STORY INFO Title: The Angel In My Life Fandoms: Angel and Buffy crossover Pairings: Angel/OC, Buffy/Spike, Dawn/Andrew, Willow/Xander, Giles/OC, Gunn/Fred, Wes/Fred, Connor/Cordelia, Angel/Cordelia, Angel/Darla, Angel/Nina, OC/OC Summary: Angel saves Adria Rose from the group of vampires who killed her family. Now left alone, he brings her into Angel Investigations. That's where our story begins. Spoilers: All of Angel. All of Buffy is also up for grabs, but this story will be the Angel series-centric, so there won't be many of the characters from that show in there, at least not as main characters. As for Angel, I will be writing some episodes, but not all. Mainly the ones I think are important to the storyline. At the beginning of them, I will write which episode they will be based off of. The story starts in season one, between episodes seventeen and eighteen. CHAPTER INFO Title: Savin' Me (credit: Nickelback) Number: 1/? Warnings: Language, blood, terror, death Episodes: Between seventeen and eighteen of season one. Author's Note: I have many brilliant plans for this story, if I do say so myself. :) The pairings listed will not be throughout the whole story as that would be quite impossible. The ending pairs will be...well, guess you'll have to see. :D As for the info listed here, the story info will be on this chapter only, but the chapter info will change every chapter. :) I'd love some reviews!
-Los Angeles, California-
-2000- Adria Rose smiled as the intoxicating smell of roast beef and potatoes drifted through the small apartment she shared with her parents. She had headphones on over her ears and Metallica blasting through her small MP3, the only gift for her fifteenth birthday. Her parents could hardly afford the electric bill, but they did everything they could to make their daughter happy. She tried talking them into taking the music player back so they'd have more money, but they wouldn't budge. She flipped through songs as she waited to be called. Metallica turned to Pantera which turned into Ozzy. She couldn't decide what to listen to, so she kept flipping until Guns 'n Roses started. She was nodding along to Welcome to the Jungle when she felt a tap on her arm. She squeaked and ripped the headphones off. Her dad laughed, his eyes identical to hers sparkling in amusement as she playfully glared at him. She swatted at him playfully and sat up, crossing her legs over themselves. "Dinner," he said, shoving his hands in his pockets. This dinner was another thing Adria protested, however. It was a belated birthday dinner, something else her parents insisted on giving her. They had made her her favorite meal every birthday and they insisted that nothing would change that birthday. She was happy with the small meal they had the day of, but her mother brought home the things simmering in the kitchen and Adria had a real problem saying no. "I'll be right out," Adria said. Her dad laughed again as he walked out the door, softly shutting it behind him. She made sure to shut the MP3 player off before getting up and clicking off the lights in her room as she made her way down the small hallway to the kitchen. She grinned at the spread before her. It was her favorite meal of the year followed by her favorite dessert: chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and cookie dough ice cream. She knew her mother made the cake from scratch, and she felt her heart beat excitedly at the thought of savoring the moist cake later in the evening. As her mom spooned her some nicely cooked potatoes, she could only think about how lucky she was and how she hoped nothing would ever change. .x.x.x.x. She had never been more terrified than in that moment. She sucked in air rapidly as her heart threatened to beat from her chest. Her eyes were round and so full of fear, all she saw was red. The man—no, the thing—advancing on her bared his sharp canines and snarled. Adria shrieked and whimpered, backing up as much as she could. She knew she'd hit the brick wall at any second. Her eyes flickered to her left where her mother's limp body, completely drained of blood, lay on the ground, dead about ten minutes now. Her father was still struggling against the thing that held him. His scared eyes were locked on her and she knew he feared for her life and more than his own. "Daddy," she whimpered. Her father started to struggle more and almost got away before the thing holding him knocked him out. The thing in front of her laughed before the other one sank his teeth in her father's neck. She screamed and that's all it took for the one advancing on her to grab her. She tried to struggle, but it was useless. Fear cloaked her and she wished she could pass out, too. Anything was better than the pain and fear of what was happening. He was too strong and she was too weak. He moved her head to the side and let out another snarl before sinking his fangs into the skin of her neck. She screamed again and started sobbing. The pain was unbearable. Lights swam behind her eyes and she silently begged the thing to kill her. Her eyes slid shut and her body throbbed, threatening to grant her wish and send her into unconsciousness. She felt sick as she felt the thickness of her blood seeping down the punctures in her neck and around his lips, sliding down her pale skin and dripping onto her shirt. She cried out as he tugged at her vein, suckling up the spilled blood. It permanently stained the more he drank. Hungrily. Like an animal, she thought. She gasped as he gave another hard tug and she felt the edge come a bit closer. She felt like she couldn't even scream now, but she was falling over the side into a put of blackness and there was nothing she could do. Adria didn't know how long he sucked at her neck, but it was over much later than she wished. The thing yanked himself away from her and she crumpled to the dirty, blood-covered ground in a heap. She didn't seem to have the energy or the strength to pick herself up. That's when she heard the first punch land. She furrowed her brow in confusion. The only two people who would fight for her were dead. She must be dead, too, or she was hallucinating. She felt like she was struggling to swim through a thick, black pool. She couldn't open her eyes and she could barely move. She twitched as she tried to move, tried to do anything. The sounds of fighting kept hitting her ears and she felt a surge of hope. Maybe Dad's alive! she thought sluggishly, even if she knew she wouldn't be much longer. But she wanted to say goodbye to the man who gave her life in more ways than one. She made herself peel open her eyes. Her vision was blurry and the edges swirled with different colors, the blackness still threatening to drown her. But she forced herself to stay conscious just a little bit longer. When she was able to see shapes, the first things she noticed was her father laying on the ground in the last spot she saw him, his eyes open and glassy, devoid of all life, his hand outstretched towards her. So the fighting wasn't him. He was gone...then was she imagining it? No, she could still hear it. Her hazy eyes flickered over to the moving figures. It was clearing the longer she forced herself to look around and she confirmed the man fighting wasn't her father. She blinked when she saw he was a thing, a thing just like the ones that killed her family. Why would he be fighting with others like him? She yelped out quietly in shock when he shoved something wooden into the chest of the thing that killed her mom only for it to explode into dust a second later. She watched the particles fall to the ground before looking back up and seeing her attacker was the only one still left. He spun and kicked the thing into the metal garbage cans. He leaped on top, punching the thing in the face before killing it the same way he did the other one. He stood there, breathing heavily for a second, before looking down at Adria. She whimpered in the fear of that face and tried to back away, but it hurt too much. The pain radiated through the wound in her neck and spread out through her body. She wished she had let herself fall unconscious. This is it, she thought. He just wanted to be the one to finish me off. The man jumped down and tossed the piece of wood to the side. To her shock and confusion, his face transformed, this time to that of a man. She momentarily took in his handsome, chiseled features and beautiful brown eyes before remembering he was going to kill her. She tried to move again. No matter how handsome this guy was, he was a monster like the others. She wanted to get away from him. "Are you alright?" She blinked. She swore she must be hallucinating. Those things attacked her and her family, and one was asking if she was okay? There was something wrong here. She didn't trust him. Who cares if he just saved her life, he probably just wanted her for himself. "What—" she started, but couldn't finish. He started walked towards her and she involuntarily whimpered. He stopped and slowly held up his hands. "I'm not going to hurt you," he said softly. "I promise. I just want to see if you're okay." "Okay?" she whispered finally. "They killed my parents." Uncontrollable tears slipped down her face. Saying it out loud made it too real. She would never see them again. They would never hold her while she cried about friends or boys, they would never congratulate her on good grades. She would never see them smile or laugh or cry. They were gone. He frowned, glancing over at the unmoving bodies. "I know," he said. "I'm sorry for your loss." Huh? she thought, more confused than even before. Since when do the things who murder her parents care about what she feelings. "I-I don't understand." He carefully moved to her side and helped her sit up. He ripped off a piece of his shirt and held it carefully to her neck to stop the blood flow. It had already started clotting, but she knew that if he didn't do that, she'd be dead before they could get to a hospital. She still felt woozy, but it was probably from lack of blood. She pulled herself away from him and cuddled against the wall. She was waiting for his attack any minute. "I promise I won't hurt you," he repeated. She felt a nagging sensation to believe him, even though she didn't want to. He had a monster's face and she wanted to believe he'd hurt her like the others did. She knew he would. Just give it time, he was just like the rest of them. But maybe if she acted like she trusted him, she could get away before anything happened to her. "Come with me. I'll take you to the police." "But you're a—" she gestured to his face. "Vampire." She winced. She knew it, she thought it, but she didn't want to say it out loud. It sounded crazy. Vampires were part of grim tales, a story made up by Bram Stoker, they weren't real. But she knew that this night was real and vampires killed her family. "One of them," she whispered, glancing over at her parents. He glanced that way, too, then looked at the mouth of the alley. He looked pained. "Not exactly," he muttered. "I can help you with your parents. I can get you to somewhere you can go." She glanced at him before silently crawling towards her mother. She sniffled as the pain in her neck and the pain in her heart hit her over and over again, slowly combining to kill her. He let his hand fall from the cloth that stuck to the blood on her wound. She carefully sat by her and lifted her mother's head and placed it in her lap. She ran her hand through the raven locks that matched her own. "They're all I had." Then the tears just wouldn't stop falling. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
