To Kill A Mockingbird

Omega clentches his teeth as he spots the slayer for the first time since she destroyed him. She hasn't changed, except for the fact that she might be in fact stronger, that and she reeks of the other slayer, of the tall burnette fighting and trying to stay beside her the whole time.

Omega's right hand, Thor, loyal til the end, stands beside him, holding his saber, ready to protect no matter what the cost may be. The vampire is standing at attention, but he too watches with a hawk's eye.

"Tell me," Omega's voice booms, "can you smell that? The slayers, are they mated?"

Thor blinks, sniffing the air, a feral leer in place, "It would seem so lord."

The eight foot phenomena can hear the words are tinged with disgust, with hatred, and with betrayal. There is something about the man that set him apart from every other before him. His hate for humans with a firey passion, the will to do something about his conflict, the animality to kill like a machine built soley for that very purpose, and yet the finess to follow orders and wait.

"Thor,"

"Lord?" A stone cold hand settles upon the undead man's shoulder as he bows.

"You will rule with me, mark my words. Now go, go and bring me the slayer's mate."

Thor already gliding away stops, surprised by the hellgod's request. "The slayer's mate?" He is not one for questions, he is one of action, but the most elite soilder would be baffled.

"I've learned something from the human I've been brought. Most are more than willing to put up a fight when what they call 'loved ones' are in dire situations. Some even die for them. I take the slayer is not different."

"Yes lord."

"Hurry up and reload that thing!" Kennedy screams over her shoulder at Giles. The ex watcher is fumbling to notch an arrow into the crossbow, while keeping his other arm out ans swinging, occasionally staking a random vamp or two.

"Got it!" He hollers, underhandedly tossing the weapon into the air, the slayer snatching it out of thin air and notching three vampires in a row.

"Reload again." She hands Giles the bow, shouting duck before planting her boot into the stomach of a once business man. He grunts as he rolls back into the crowd, knocking over a few others in his way. "I wish Willow could chant a little faster." Her words are snipped.

Kennedy squats down, leaving her stake in the air as yet another flies over her head and lands perfectly on the pointy end of the wood.

"A most certainly-uff, agree." The british man tucks out of the way, then rises to his feet tackling a female into the dirt, staking her through the back. A hand grabs his shoulder, hoisting him up to his feet. Giles attempts for a back hand; it is blocked with a leather clad forearm.

"Geez, lighten up Giles." Kennedy pushes him away lightly, spinning to the left and kicking out a vampire's fang.

The creature falls to her knees, hands cupped over her mouth, blood seeping through her fingers, exploding every when she coughs. "You bitch! You kicked off my fang!"

"Yeah." Kennedy stalks to her, lifting the vampire up by the scruff of her neck, dangling the short girl in the air to meet her eyes, "And I'm ganna make you one with the earth. How's that sound?" Pulling her hand back, she punches the stake into the unbeating heart faster than it can comprehend what is happening. She seems to get a notion, when her torso starts flying away in the winds of the storm.

"Oh shit," she manages to get out before completely disentergrating in the slayer's hand.

"Oh shit is just about right."

"I got it!" Willow calls out, motioning for Giles and Kennedy to get behind her. They do as told.

Looking back, a frown settles over the young girl, they've being fighting non stop for minutes, killed a great number of vampires, and yet it seems they've barely made a dent in the ranks. From on top of the little incline, the wicca can see three little holes in the waves of undead. One is far off in the right, close enough to jump over the graves and into the street. The other two are very close to each other, and it seems they're getting closer as shreiks and yells and dust go about, cutting down the barrier.

"Willow shouldn't we get them out of the way?" Kennedy looks over the redhead's shoulder, also spotting the little breaks in the crowds. A thought hits her, is that what it looks like in a mosh pit? She decides to hold onto her question until a more convienent time.

"We should, but I can't stop now. Lets hope slayers aren't too affected by it." The witch extends her left hand out, palm up, almost weighted down by the rain soaking into the material on the sleeve. "Incendere!" She shouts, a soccor sized ball of orange flame instantly appears into her hand. "Nifty." She chuckles, turning the little conjurgation in her hand.

"Uh Willow?," Giles taps her head politely, "shouldn't show and tell be at some other not so violent world in peril time?"

"Huh?" She glances around, "Oh! Oh yes! My bad. Um, ehhem. Go!" She orders throwing the ball out into the hordes of vampires, a grin her reward when vampires begin dusting left and right, going down like flies.

"Sweet." Kennedy nods, entranced by the spectacle, forgetting about the scythe laid out behind her in the mud, unaware of the lurking creature behind her.

"Quite." Giles says breathlessly, adjusting his glasses to get a better look.

Faith tosses another vampire into the air, Rayne moving swiftly, staking it before it reaches the ground. The one in her hands fights back, jamming an elbow into the slayer's jaw, making her sway for a split second, enough time to get away from her.

The vampire, a fellow college student, smirks, licking her chops. "What's the matter slayer? Too much for AHHHHHHHHHHH!" A bright sunlike orb flashes by, and the vampire combust in on itself.

"Shit! What the fuck!" Rayne ducks at the last second, barely missing getting ignited by the ball of flame, it does however graze her back, burning away her coat and shirt, scorching the flesh on her back. The vampire she was about to dust is not as lucky as her. The skull lulls from side to side in the puddle it landed in.

"Yo! You alright?" Faith snorts, driving her elbow into a spine, a sick crunch rising before the familiar poof that is like music to her ears.

The vampiress hisses, but pushes herself up on all fours none the less. The rain collides with her back, making smoke rise from the searing flesh. "Damn it. Can't Willow watch what she's doing?"

"I guess she can't, but look." Faith helps her up, pointing all around them. Almost all the vampires have been dusted with exception of a few who fled back over the fallen gates in hopes of surviving the mini sun, and those who were too far off to the side.

"Too bad she missed me."

"Where'd you come from?" Faith question, patting dust off her shoulders, a futile action thanks to the rain. She isn't too concerned with this one vampire until she sees a flash of red metal stashed in his belt. "Where'd you get that?" She growls, her light mood gone, ready for actin again.

"Thor..."

"Rayne." Thor acknowledges the singed vampiress with a curt nod. "I see you're still fighting on the wrong team. Concubine to the slayer huh?"

"What are you doing here?" Rayne ignores the slayer beside her gawking at her like she's grown a pair of extra eyes.

The vampire shruggs, removing the scythe from his belt, flipping it in his hands, showing off his expert skills with weapons. "Isn't it obvious? I'm here with lord Omega, here to rid the world of these pathetic rodents called humans, cleanse the earth and watch it blossom again with the immortal." Thor ceases the scythe acrobatics, settling the weapon in an offensive position.

"What is it with you damn hellgods and trying to destroy the world? I mean seriously, zero points for originality, this is getting tired." Faith takes a step closer to the vampire, her eyes glued to the scythe, that's what she needs to get, Omega cannot have it.

"Slayer, you are coming with me, such is the will of Omega."

Faith's brow arches, her hand brushing away at her matted bangs sticking to her forehead, "Really? Well tell Omega he's got another thing coming."

Anger settles on the features of the vampire, his patient worn with the slayer's impudence. "You will die for your malmanored nature bitch."

"Look who's talking. I'm guesing you're the loyal lap dog. Is Omega's sweet loving that good pretty boy?" Faith leaped up on a headstone and kicked him in the face hard, driving him back. She dropped into a crouch, knocking the vampire off his feet with a leg sweep.

Thor roared, rising to his feet, all his patience, cool, and collection shot out the window, he charged the slayer like a mad bull. Faith dropped off of the headstone, shot a high sidekick at its face that broke his nose with a crunch of bone.

Thor staggered back, shaking his head, digging his heels into the soft earth. "Hmm. I guess I should just go ahead and stop messing around now huh?"

"Say what?" Faith asked seriously, totally thrown off by the vampire's question. "What the hell are you going on about?"

"You'll see soon enough slayer." Not waiting for a response, Thor whirls around and rockets through the maze of vampires and dust, his destination, Omega.

"Oh shit!" Faith panics, momentarily frozen to her spot, her brain screaming too many instructions for her to understand. Lucky for her, she always said she'd copy homework, Rayne launches after the vampire at incrediable speeds. She knows how to play follow the leader. Her feet start moving, her muscles unlocking straight into actions, she follows Rayne closely, gulping as the ringing in her ears gets louder the closer she gets to Omega.

"Stop!" The spell is halted as Willow drops her hand, the fire ball extinguishing under the rain, creating a fog all around the graveyard. There's hardly a sound now that the vampires have been killed and the fighting stopped. Unconsciously, her body moves closer to her girlfriend's, seeking protection from the errie night.

"You know," Kennedy whispers, her eyes scanning around, "now we just need zombies and this would be the perfect horror flick."

"Oh please don't say that." Willow pleads, remembering the time Kakitos conjured up the dead. Vampires, werewolves, demons, and hellgods she can deal with, undead flesh eating walking corpses, she can not.

"Babe, you're scared of zombies?"

It's very dark now, with only the soft trinkling of the rain and the occasional clap of thunder to produce any noise. Willow can hear the smirk in Kennedy's voice, and she wants to deny it, but it's hard to do when she practically super glued to the girl's arm.

"Hey guys-"

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Willow and Kennedy shreik, both leaping to their feet, hugging each other for dear life, whimpering under their breaths.

"Oh please don't be a zombie I hate zombies damn it."

"You jinxed us. You're a slayer, fight it."

"I don't like zombies."

"Uh guys...it's me. You know, one and only Buffy." The blond waits for her friend and her lover to stop fooling around, but it does appear as though they were truly frightened. "Unbelieveable. Big bad slayer and superwitch are scared of zombies. Who would have thought?" she shakes her head in mock disappointment.

"We're not scared, we were just, just-"

"Startled?" Willow offers.

"Yeah. Startled. What are you doing here anyways?"

Buffy sighs at the dismissive behaviour, making a mental note to tease later. "I came to check up on you guys. It got to quiet all of a sudden. Nice fire ball thingy by the way."

"Yeah, thanks."

"Where's Giles?"

"I'm right here." A hand apperas from behind a tomb, followed by a shoulder, a head, and an eventual body.

"Great. I'm surronded by a bunch whimps. Okay, so, army of vamps is gone, now we need to get to Omega. Angelus-hey where is Angelus anyway?"

Giles runs a hand through his dripping hair, shaking the wetness away. "I do believe I saw him leap over the fence about ten seconds into the fight."

"Figures. Coward. Okay, where was I?"

Kennedy pats the ground around her, searching for the scythe. She moves around on all fours, sliding her hands through the mud and muck, her fingers probing the mess for something solid. It couldn't possibly be that...

"Kennedy, you and I are going to find Faith, then we'll head for Omega. Willow you find a spell or something that can distract him long enough for one of us to stake him, possibly make him immobile for a few seconds. I'm guessing s regular stake just won't do. Kennedy where's the scythe?"

"Um, uh, the what?"

"The scythe." Buffy draws the weapon in the air, locking eyes with the former potential. Her hands drop to her sides into fists, "You don't have it do you?"

"I, I set down right here just a minute ago, it couldn't possibly-" Kennedy is cut off, the original slayer yanking her by her jacket sleeve back into the battlefield.

"Giles find that scythe!"

"Where are you going?" Willow flies through the pages of her spellbook, already searching for a means to stop Omega if only for a few seconds.

"To get Faith!" Buffy huffs, stopming away, dragging Kennedy with her until the wicca can no longer see them.

"I can't believe you dropped the damn scythe, what part of if Omega gets it we're screwed didn't you get exactly?" She shoves the girl in front of her, forcing her to keep moving.

"I-I...I didn't think-"

"Well you thought wrong!" Buffy's trying hard not to lash out at the girl, but the last thing she needed was to deliberately hand the scythe to their enemy. Angelus made it clear, Omega gets the scythe, there would be hell to pay.

"...I'm sorry." Kennedy apologizes sincerely, not even trying to defend herself against the slayer's scold, she was careless, and if the weapon ends up in the wrong hands she'll be the one to blame.

Buffy counts to ten before speaking to Kennedy again, "I know. I'm sorry I yelled at you. It's just- God everything is so messed up Ken."

Kennedy takes a risk, waiting for Buffy to catch up to her to walk side by side, she nudges the slayer's shoulder affectionately
"I know. I know things aren't exactly going our way right now, but it can't rain forever right?"

Buffy cranes her head to the side, watching the girl with an almost shocked expression on her face before it melts into a small but soft smile. "I guess it can't."

The burnette mirrors her, caught up by the moment, finding that Buffy truly does have a beautiful smile. It's in this instant that can truly see why Faith fell so hard for the girl, she really isn't half bad. Coughing to cover up her smile, her attention returns to the path their taking.

"So how exactly are we going to find Faith?"

"Oh, well, you know, you might hear lots of grunting, some obscenities, stuff like that." There's a fond look in her green eyes, it truly can't rain forever.

"You really really love her, don't you?" Kennedy need not ask the question, she knows the answer, anybody with eyes knows the answer that's so plain to see.

Buffy chuckles, shaking her head absently, "How do I even begin to answer that?" She asks herself.

"What about a simple yer or no?" Kennedy suggest, taking a running jump over a deep puddle of mostly mud to avoid dirting her boots any further.

The slayer simply trudges through the offending obstacle, her mind elsewhere, her response almost automated. "It's way more complex that a simple yes or no. But yes would be putting it lightly." It's true, her love for the younger slayer runs so deep, and it affects her so much. So much in fact, that sometimes she wishes she'd said no to Faith...

-------------------------

Buffy was perched on the dock, her feet swinging in the cool, clear water of the lake, the sun hitting her body and warming her skin, pentrating her with its rays. Faith had asked her to meet her there over the phone the previous night. So here she was, basking in the sun, anxious, and yet content.

Everything seemed to be going so well as of late. There had been no major catastrophy, just a few encounters with a couple of average vampires, Dawn was entering her freshman year of college and Kennedy and Willow promised to watch out for her, Giles was still running the Magic Box and profit was growing, Xander was making big bucks in construction, often the one who took care of things around the house, and she was content just spending her time walking through Sunnydale with Faith by her side.

When Faith had pulled her into her arms and kissed her after the battle with the first, it had caught her by surprise, but it wasn't an unplesant one, in fact, she had kissed Faith right back, had even pulled her back when she had finally stopped. At the time she wasn't sure what was going on, but with each and every day it became obvious, Faith had feelings for her, and she was right up there with her.

Their friendship had progressed, grown into something she couldn't live without and she was okay with that. She and Faith were together every second of every hour, they were unseperable.

"Hey B." The burnette's husky voice snapped her from her thoughts.

"Hey yourself," Buffy grinned at her, her eyes moving down the younger girl's exposed, tanned body. Faith was the only girl she knew who could wear baggy trunks and still look painfully sexy. "What's up?" She remembered to ask after her dosage of eye strain.

Faith chuckled softly, sitting on the edge of the dock beside her, her feet dipping into the water. She could see Buffy's eyes through the dark tint of her glasses, she was still eyeing her. "Ganna hurt your eyes B."

A blush tickled her sun kissed skin, and she sat up with Faith, staring down hard into the water. "My bad."

"It's all good." Faith decides to lighten up on the teasing and get straight to the point. Her hands snakes out, taking Buffy's. The green eyed girl smiles, but keeps her eyes trained on the water, as if she looks away it might disappear. "So B,"

"So Faith,"

"Um," she scratches the back of her head nervously, a shaky hand brushing through her honey brown locks. "Buffy, I..." she's earching for the right words to say, she doesn't want to sound corny or cliche. Her chest tightens with every breath and within seconds she's almost panting, her feet like boat motors in the water, kicking up a tidal wave.

"Nervous much?" Buffy finally finds the courage to look her in the eye, and that's all the push Faith needs.

"Buffy," she raises their hands, pressing Buffy's to her chest, over her heart, "I love you." She confesses, kissing her knuckles tenderly, "I really do love you...Do...do you think maybe...maybe someday, you...you could feel the same?"

Buffy can see the amount of fear in Faith through her eyes, through her slumped shoulders, it's as if she's wait for rejection, her body squirming on the deck, she can feel her heart pounding like an overactive drum.

A million butterflies seem to break free in her stomach, and for a second she has to close her eyes and take deep breaths for fear she might puke and ruin the moment.

"If-if you don't I-I understand." Faith starts pulling away, trying to hide the moisture in her eyes. The hand in hers clentches around her fingers, keeping her from moving. To her surprise, when she turns to question Buffy, she is met by a pair of warm, soft lips gently pressed into hers. The shock and relief that surge through her body momentarily paralyze her.

Buffy leans in closer, her free hand pulling Faith by the neck, and finally Faith seems to react. The soft push back into the kiss makes her moan, her eyes fluttering close. Who knew Faith could be so tender? The kiss is small, simple, and yet it's so passionate and warm, and just overfilling with emotion.

Faith nibbles Buffy's lip lightly, then pulls away to rest her forehead against hers. When her eyes open, she finds herself drowning in a sea of green. "B?..." Her voice is quivering, the way her hand is trembling against her chest.

Buffy smiles at her sweetly, small and soft, but real. "Yes."

"Yes?"

Buffy nods against Faith, hand at the back of her neck pressing them together closer. "Yes Faith, I do love you."

--------------------

Kennedy looks over, concerned when a full two minutes pass by and Buffy is still silent. Shooting a side glance, she finds it hard not to laugh out loud, Buffy has a dreamy look in her eyes, and by now she's on auto pilot. "Buffy?" she claps her hands in front of her.

"What?" Buffy jerks her head to the right, searching Kennedy over. "What is it?"

"You spaced out on me. I'm guessing you're having a few good memories by the look on your face."

"Oh." Is the flat answer, her cheeks a rosy pink color. "So have you seen anything?"

"Besides you in lala land, nope."

A loud explosion from inside the vineyard catches their attention. The little building seems to explode into a million pieces, the blue flames licking at the moist ground confined to that one spot.

A jolt shoots up and down Buffy's spine, her hands clentching, teeth rubbing against each other in an attempt to keep herself from crying out loud. The sensation is unbareable, like being burned from the inside out. Kennedy besides her whimpers, falling to her knees, hands covering her ears, gnashing her teeth in anguish.

"What...the hell?..." Kennedy jerks violently.

"Slayer connection. Faith must have been close to that explosion. Come on Kennedy." Buffy helps the girl to her feet, the urge to find her fellow slayer is suddenly overwhelming. It takes them seconds to reach the once church like building. A surge of despair travels through Buffy's bones as she scans over the debris...if she was inside.

"Buffy, look." Kennedy points at a certain spot on the piles of ruble, it's moving.

"Jesus." The slayer runs over the mess, her focus on the now squirming pile of junk. Reaching it, she drops to her knees, tearing away at the pile, mindless of the spilnters and glass cutting deeply into her hands and wrist.

There's a small cough, seconds before a hand reaches out. Buffy gasps, grabbing the hand and pulling, shoving aside wooden planks. With one last pull the body comes free, coughing and sputtering.

"Oh god, oh god Faith, baby!" Buffy rasps, pulling the girl into a hug, holding her tightly against her chest. "Oh god, don't do this shit to me." She pulls her away, cupping her face with her bleeding hands. Faith's eyes are unfocused, clouded, smudges covering her cheeks, a single drop of blood sliding down the side of her face from her hairline. "Faith are you okay?"

Faith cranes her head away, coughing out the smoke from her lungs, spitting out dirt. "Ugh," she groans, turning back to Buffy. "O-Omega, he got it, B he got it, the scythe, we tried to stop him, blew the place up."

"We?"

"Rayne and I."

Commotion off to her left forces Buffy to look away from Faith. She sighs as a familiar tingle works its way.

"She's okay. Can you get up?"

"What am I a damsel in distress?" Faith kids, flipping to her feet and pulling Buffy up.

Buffy leans into the girl, kissing her breifly. "No damsel here. Lets help Rayne."

Faith nods following Buffy over to Kennedy who's squating, poking at Rayne's back. The vampiress hiss, making Kennedy cringe.
"Damn, that looks bad." Buffy kneels beside her, immediatly pulling back.

"Oh crap,"

"Will you stop fucking touching it?!" Rayne yelps, pushing herself up to her knees. She's pissed with the turn of events that lead to the current situation, and the mind numbing pain isn't making her any happier. The three slayers are staring at her hard, and for once in her life since socializing with them, she's creeped out, actually boardering on scared. "What the hell are you staring at?"

Faith begins backing away, her mouth wide open in a seemingly frozen horrified expression, Kennedy actually leaping to her feet and dragging Buffy along with her.

"Fucking move Rayne!" Faith ushers the youngest girl, eyes about to bulge out as she catches a horn sliding out of the ruble, where the cellar was.

"What?" The girl is flabberghasted, unable to understand what is inspiring their reactions until she herself witnesses a white horn coming up from beside her. "Fuck!" She screams, crawling on her knees to get out of the way. With every inch she moves, her back stabs her with pain, and she can hear the flesh tearing as it's pulled. She lets out a sob when she finally reaches the group of slayers.

"He-he he f-fucking has the scythe." Faith stutters, unaware of her trembling.

"We'll stop him."

"No!" Faith whirls on Buffy, gripping her arms tightly, "Y-you don't get it Buffy, we can't stop h-him, we have to go."

Buffy's forehead creases with worry, Faith scared...That's almost impossible. "Baby...what did he do to you?"

"Buffy please." Faith begs her, her throat bobbing every second.

"We can't do that."

"Yes we can!" Faith counters, close to leaping out of her skin. Buffy didn't see the fucking monster, she can't possibly understand what she's feeling, what she saw it do to the vampiress, how she didn't lift a finger to help her because she was too afraid.

"Faith, stop it." Buffy can feel the younger slayer's fear through their connection, but she has to get through to her. She hardens herself, pushing Faith away. "If you wanna run, go ahead, I'm not stopping you." She produces a stake from her waistband, crouching low and ready to fight. "But don't come running back to me."

Faith seems uncertain, her skittish looks disolving as the words Buffy said sink in. Retracting her own stake she stands next to Buffy, wiping the tears away from the edges of her eyes. "I'm not leaving you."

"Thank you."

"That thing is really pissing me off!" Rayne stumbles to her feet, straightening out as much as she possibly can, ripping off the destroyed leather jacket with a rage.

"Save it for him." Kennedy advises her, the concotion of wooden planks, metal beams, and rock falling into the hoel that was the cellar as she finally gets a real good long look at the monster they've been waiting to fight. "I would say he doesn't look so tough, but um, the torak vamp was pretty small and he was damn tough."

Omega climbs onto the ruins, a blue hue surronding him, making him glow like he's under a purple light. His massive body makes the scythe look puny and insignificant in his hand, but that's the source of the hue, whatever it is that the slayer weapon is doing for him, it can't be good for the acutal slayer. His black eyes stay locked on one person, Buffy.

"Thanks for this slayer." He waves the scythe in front of him, his entire body rippling with the movement.

"Don't thank me yet, I'm taking it back."

"Really? How?" He cocks his head to the side, "your army consist of four little girls, tired, afraid, with no idea who they are dealing with. I do not see how that will happen."

Buffy starts spreading away from the others, the three other girls moving to circle the hellgod, "You know, you said that last time, right before I gave you a reality check and sent you pack right back to the hole you came from."

"Ah, but it is different now. You see," he swings the scythe, Buffy narrowly escaping from having her bottom half amputated, "I have this."

"Won't do you any good if you can't move fast enough."

"I wager that is not the case." Switching the scythe from his left hand to his right, the hellgod faces left palm out, the blue light fading in, before a loud zip shots the light out and into a tree. A flash goes up, and where there was a tree now lies millions and millions of toothpick sized splinters.

Buffy blanches, coming to a jerking halt beside the monster. That's what Angelus meant. Could they get close enough to stake the hellgod? No damn way. They'd be lucky if they could last two more minutes. She can hear Faith cursing under her breath, feel the terror rolling off of her in torrents.

"Well then slayer, still think you can defeat me?"

From behind him Rayne runs straight into his arm, making the mosnter's hold on the scythe becoming loose. Finding her opportunity, she drop kicks his hands, the red blade dropping to the floor. The monster whirls on her with a fury unlike any she's even seen, but she is not stopped from completing her task, she kicks out at the weapon, sending it spiraling in Buffy's diresction, before tucking and rolling away, Omega stomping after her.

"I'll finish picking the bones from your flesh vermin!" he howls, punching the ground, trying to hit the still rolling vampire.

"A little help would be nice!!!" She uses the momentum of her roll to boost onto her feet. Once that is accomplished, she has no problem dodging the wild and unaimed swings from Omega.

"I'm coming!" Buffy snatches the scythe from the floor, the memorable sensation running through her veins. Using the ruble as a boost, she launches herself at the hellgod's back, driving her feet deep into his spine before pushing off of him like a spring.

"Slayer!"

Omega forgets about the vampiress, instead moving to stomp on the small slayer taunting him.

Rayne seeks about, finding Kennedy and Faith staring wide eyed, still in the locations she last saw them in. "What are you fucking stupid move it!" That seems to snap some sense into them, the two slayers vault into the way, attempting to kick out his legs, he won't be so hard to stake on the floor. Rayne joins in, driving her stake into Omega's stomach, surprised when the it easily impales him, black blood oozing out when she pulls it back out.

"You stabbed him?!" Kennedy ducks under his swing, firing back with a drop kick to his chest, Buffy slices away at his side, while Faith works the demon's back.

"Are you blind now?" Rayne snaps back, Omega's flailing arm knicking her, sending her hurling like a rag doll twenty feet into the trees.

"Shit, Rayne are you-" Kennedy's wind is knocked harshly from her lungs, the cloven foot of the ancient vampire snapping out and catching her collarbone. A blinding white flash ticks in her mind before she crumbles to the floor, emotionless and strangly numb.

"Kennedy, Rayne!" Faith hollers, jabbing into the Omega's stomach, Buffy keeping his hands away from her. He's becoming angrier, but he's tired as well. The scythe was the reason he had that power, now Buffy's channeling the power, leaving him drained.

"Forget about them!" Her spirits lift, although she has to say, he wasn't the one he was expecting.

"Angelus!" Omega scolds the age old vampire. "Where have you been? Kill these annoyances!"

"Sorry grandpa, not happening, see I like these slayers." Angelus flips onto the monster's shoulders, grabbing his horns and twisting them about his head.

Omega's howl is like thunder, loud and shaking, distracting, to the point where Buffy actually stops her hacking to cover her ears.

"You scream like a bitch." Angelus cackles, caught completely off guard by Omega's sweeping hand. A horn comes off with Angelus, and the monsters stomps his foot.

"You'll scream like a bitch," he snarls, digging his razor sharp fangs into the vampire's throat, ripping it out prior to using his amputated horn to stake the traitorous fiend. Angelus cries out, his body piling in the hand, a breeze lifting away the ashes into the night.

"Angelus," Buffy pants, handing the scythe to Faith, retreating, something isn't right. A pang hits her heart, takes her breath away, driving her to collaspse.

"Buffy!" Faith stabs the scythe into Omega's back, hoping to hit the heart, but she doesn't put enough force behind it, she kicks the back of Omega's knee, bringing him down. Grabbing Buffy she pulls her away, only stopping at a safe distance from Omega. Her hands cups the blond's pale cheek, gazing into glassy green eyes. "Buffy, what happened?"

"S-spell." Is the only word she can push out, a wet gurgling deep in her throat. A haunting image comes into play in Faith's head, Allen Finch, the way he looked when she drove that stake into his heart.

The ground shakes violently as she hears a grunt behind her, followed by Omega's agonized shriek of horror and pain. Buffy's head lulls to the side, crimson bubbling from her mouth. "L-l-look."

Faith snaps her head around, Omega's body twitching and jerking about as he tries to remove the scythe's stake end from his back. Rayne holds onto the weapon flawlessly, letting herself be swung around with the force of the monster's thrashing. Omega pauses, seemingly paralyzed for mere seconds. It's then Rayne releases the weapon, taking a step back to kick the axe head, imbeding the stake deeper and deeper into his back.

"What is this magic!?!"

Again Rayne shoves her shoulder into the end, latching onto it pushing in. Whatever seems to come over Omega is quickly gone, and the hellgod reaches back, catching the vampiress' shoulder, squeezing until he hears the bone break, and feels it shatter against his palm.

"You're dead," he sneers, searching for the head.

"no... you are."

"What?!"

'Thanks for the distraction Kenny.' Rayne thinks, backing up to get the levrage she needs to finally drive the stake into Omega's heart. "Say hello to Angelus for me." Taking a running start, she prays she has enough force to complete the task. Mere inches away from her target, she plants her feet firmly into the ground, going into a deep crouch, then launching into the air.

If the hit isn't hard enough, well it won't matter, they'll be dead in a matter of seconds. If it does work, she'll go down with a smile on her face, chances are the axe will kill her too.

'One for the good guys.'

Her body slams into the hell god's back, a noise like trains clashing. True to her mark, the force drives the scythe clean into Omega's back, a sick pop and crunch as the stake comes out the other end.

Faith leaps to her feet, sprinting across the clearing to reach Omega. She grabs the stake, using the scythe's power to pull out the remainder of the weapon. "Have fun in hell," the scythe whistles, the axe head cutting clean through the vampire's neck. His black eyes seem to flash, his mouth open in a silent scream. A final time his hand reaches out, grabbing her around the waist. The power he musters into that one squeeze crushes her. The hand contracts around her, a loud pop filling the night air with an encore of several more before the hand falls away.

Kennedy hides her face in her arms with only seconds to spare before the loudest poof of her life sends ashes spraying about like confetti. Faith stands motionless beside her.

The force of the implosion knocks Rayne off her feet, pushing her about like a tumble weed before she settles onto her side, facing the graveyard. The smallest trace of a smile pulls at the corners of her lips, Willow, Giles, and Xander are running through the muck towards them. A hand settles on her thigh, the only part of her that isn't bleeding or broken.

"Wish they could've gotten here sooner." Her voice cracks, her throat dry as the Sahara despite all the blood in her mouth.

"Heh!" Kennedy grunts, joining her on the ground. "They suck. Velma, and Fred and Shaggy and Scooby always show up right in the knick of time. They shouldn't be called the Scoobies."

"I agree."

"You okay?"

"Yeah...think my heart's ganna stop though."

Faith takes a shaky step, trying hard to contain herself. The sudden shot of adrenaline that surged through her body is gone, and it left her feeling shallow, empty. Another step, her ankle wavers and she drops to her face, her lip splitting open, her tooth digging deep into the soft flesh. She doesn't have the will or the strength to move. It's like coming down from a high, she's left craving the feeling, missing the sensation.

She wanted to pummel the bastard's face until there was nothing left to it, she wanted break evey bone in his body limb for limb, wanted to make scream, make him bleed. But it had all happened to fast, one minute Buffy was telling her she loved her, the next she was swinging the axe, finishing before she ever really began. The second she dropped the scythe, her body was drained. And still, she wants to get to her.

Her mind and body, however have different plans. Pain like hot iron pokers assults her body from the waist down, everything seems to blank out, a heavy darkness hanging over her, pushing her down.

"Buffy..."
