Spike nearly ran to the front door. With a burst of strength,
he grabbed the door handle and flung it open. He looked around in disgust. The
party was still going on strong. No one had even spared a glance in his
direction. Well, this won’t do at all!
Puffing out his chest, he walked forward, his every movement was graceful,
deadly yes, but graceful.
When he made it into the center room, he spotted the band
that had been hired for the evening. They had just started a new set and seemed
refreshed. First things first, Spike thought, get rid of the music and maybe I will have
there attention. He walked up to the makeshift stage positioning himself in
front of the lead singer. He ignored the glares and confused gaze from the few
audience members who were actually watching the bad. He snatched the mic right
out of the lead’s hands.
Spike smirked as he watched the bonehead still thrashing his
head and screeching to the music. Stupid
sod has no brain cells left. He
turned his head and stared at the guitar player. After a few more beats, the
guitar stopped.
Spike just watched as the guitarist took a deep breath and
walked over to the idiot banging on the drums. Suddenly, all the music had
stopped. Spike chuckled in amusement when the lead singer finally whipped his
head around, finally noticing that his band was no longer playing.
“Okay boys and girls, party’s over. I need anyone who is
still half way somber to get their asses up here in two seconds flat,” Spike
was speaking calmly, a feat that would make anyone who knew him all the more
terrified.
Suddenly, a drunken yell pierced through the air, “And who
the fuck do you think you are?” A loud round of “yeas!” filled the air, which
bolstered the stupid fuck head even more. “I don’t give a fuck who you are, but
this party isn’t over till we fucking say it is!”
Spike felt his temper flare. Barely restraining himself, he
said in a menacing voice, “The name’s Spike.”
Willow
watched from the floor, standing in complete disbelief as the room suddenly
became deathly silent. What had Spike done years ago that just his name caused
an entire room to grow silent? And, did she really want to know?
Suddenly, a few guys rushed up front. She tensed, thinking
that they were coming to attack her brother. Her body relaxed as she heard them
call out Spike’s name in a friendly greeting. As the scene played out, she was
beginning to see Spike in a whole new light. He commanded everyone’s attention.
As he spoke to the four guys in front of him, Willow stared, transfixed on their faces.
She quickly grabbed Xander’s hand and pushed her way to
Spike so she could hear what was going on.
It was then that Spike noticed Willow making her way through the crowd. He
turned his head and waved her on up. After he was sure that she was right
beside him, he focused his attention back on his frat brothers.
“Okay guys, here’s the thing. Some ass-wipe pretended to be
Angel and invited my baby sister’s best friend to your party. She came and then
got separated from Willow
here. She’s not answering her phone, and Willow
here can’t find her anywhere.”
Taking a deep breath, Spike focused on the moment at hand
and tried to push his anxiety away. “We need to find her, and find her quick. First,
I need to know if any of you know what is going on.” He fixed each man with a
glare, “And if I find out later that you knew what was going on and did nothing
to stop it, I will take care of you personally”
The look that passed through the group was one of terror. None
of the men had any desire to be on Spike’s bad side.
The leader of the group started barking out orders, “John
and Tim, go start rounding up everyone in the house. I want them all in this
room in the next five minutes.”
One of the men started to say something, but he was quickly
interrupted by Spike, “I don’t care if you have to drag them by their DICKS. Get
them down here! Cause if I have to get them, they might lose their dicks.”
With that, the men’s faces turned a light shade of green,
and they ran to do what was asked of them.
Spike turned to the remaining man and gave a little shake of
his head. “I doubt she is in the house still or Willow would of found her. We need to find
out if anyone saw Buffy leave with this mystery man.” This is going to be like finding a needle in a hay stack. I doubt
anyone paid much attention to anything other that the piece of ass in front of
them; and if they did notice something, they are probably too shit-faced right
now to be of any help.
Suddenly a voice rang out, “Buffy, you mean Buffy Summers?”
Spike, Willow,
and Xander whipped around almost in perfect harmony at the sound of the voice.
Willow
recognized him first, “Oz?”
The guitar player, Spike
thought. He rushed forward and grabbed this Oz by the front of his shirt,
lifting him off the ground. “What do you know about Buffy?” he practically
growled.
Xander stepped forward and placed a hand on Spike’s shoulder.
“Spike, my man, I know how you feel, but he needs to breathe in order to talk.”
I hope he sees reason cause I don’t know
if we could stop him if he decides to take his anger and frustration out on Oz.
Spike knew Xander made sense. God that is something I never thought I would say. Spike let Oz go
but kept a hand on his shoulder.
“Now what do you know about Buffy?”
Oz felt the other man’s worry and shared it too. He didn’t
begrudge his out burst. If his girl was missing, he would feel the same way. Cause you can’t tell me he would react this
way for any girl, no matter if it is his sister’s friend.
“I noticed her a couple of hours ago walking out the back
door. I remember cause we were in the middle of a set, and I was wondering what
she was doing here. I didn’t see her come back in so I thought she must have
left. I’m sorry man. I should have said something. It slipped my mind completely
till you mentioned her name.”
“Out back?” Spike pondered this for a minute, “Willow you looked outside,
right?” Spike afforded a quick look in her direction.
“Yes, I looked in the yard and started to walk a little down
the path, but it was so dark and a little scary with the wind howling and
moaning,” Willow started berating herself, “I should have looked longer.”
Xander pulled her in his arms “No, baby you did good. You
came back and got help. If you had gotten yourself in trouble, nobody would
have known what was going on.”
Spike looked on with interest. Something is going on there, even if they don’t know it yet. Focusing
on the task at hand, he pondered, Outside?
Where could she be? The path, the boathouse! Of course! It’s perfect, a short walk away and very
private.
“The boathouse!” Spike yelled and took off at a run.
He nearly ripped the door off of its hinges and tore down
the path. As he turned the last corner, he skidded to a stop. His heart stopped,
and he felt the bile rise up his throat. He bent over and began to heave. He
was brought back to the present by the sound of footsteps behind him. He raised
his hands to stop the rest of the group from coming any closer.
“Willow,
go get a blanket and come back quickly,” Spike quietly told his sister.
Willow
needed no explanation. She turned and ran to do his bidding.
“Xander, go call the police.” Turning around, he whispered,
“Everyone else, go back to the house and wait for the police.” Without another
glance, Spike started walking to the bloody and beaten girl lying in the dirt.
His temper flared up even more when he noticed she was staked to the ground.
“Oh, Baby,” he murmured gently.
He walked over to where Buffy was laid out and noticed she
was coming to. Falling to his knees beside her, he placed his hands gently on
to her shoulder. She began to thrash about, mumbling fearfully. Spike’s grasp
tightened as he tried to hold her still.
“Shh, it’s alright now. Spike’s here. You need to stay down
till the ambulance arrives. Don’t worry. Willow
went to get a blanket. You’re safe now,” Spike said, trying to reassure her.
His heart broke even more as she continued to struggle. She
was still not completely lucid. What did
he give her? “It’s okay, kitten. It’s ok,” Spike said as softly as he could.
She stilled.
“Spike?” Buffy weakly called out. “Are you really here?”
“Yes, kitten, it’s me.”
It was all he could do not to burst into tears.
“Safe, finally safe.” With that, she promptly passed out
again.
