Jenny_Wren: There will
be another close miss and her finding out isn't too far off either.
And she will definitely have her bit to say.
Chapter 8 – Date time for demon-hunters
The next day they were
busy with a new customer and barely had time for each other. The
unfortunate man came to them after finding out, that his new wife was
a demon, who was intend on killing him after their wedding night. But
after a long and messy fight they finally killed the demon.
Covered in slime and
intestines Angel, Gunn and Wesley returned to the Hyperion, where
Cordelia was already waiting for them. She had sent the customer away
and was now styling herself in front of a small hand-held mirror.
“You're going out?”
Wesley inquired.
“Yes. You don't have anything
against it, do you, boss?” Her voice was light and teasing,
obviously the headache from her last vision had already faded,
brightening her mood considerably.
“No, of course not. I think I
will be heading home too.”
“I'll leave, too.” Gunn
added, quickly following Wes out the door. The two of them were
completely oblivious to the strange look Angel cast in their
direction. Frowning the vampire walked up to his own room, brooding
over the altered behavior his friends showed lately.

As soon as they were in
the car, Wesley pressed a deep kiss to Gunn's lips, who passionately
responded to his advances. Their tongues sensually rubbed together,
while Wesley's hands massaged Gunn's shaved scalp. Finally breaking
the kiss, both of them were slightly out of breath.
“I wanted to do this the whole
day.”
Grinning over at his
lover, Gunn asked: “Just this?” Wesley swatted his knee,
but laughed none-the-less. Pleased Gunn noted, that during the short
time they had been together Wesley had already become more relaxed
about their relationship. He was less reserved and Gunn had found him
to possess a wicked sense of humor.
Pulling out of the
parking lot, they drove for a while before Wes spoke again. “Gunn,
do you remember, what you said yesterday about going out?”
Seeing his lover's nod and curious expression the Englishman
continued. “Mmh...I have reserved a table at a restaurant for
tonight.”
“Oh.” Gunn immediately
saw Wesley's face fall at his sound. “For what time have you
reserved the table? Because I promised my old gang to come to a
birthday party.” Shit. Wesley's face had fallen even further.
Gunn wasn't entirely sure, what he had done wrong, just that he
obviously had.
“Wes?”
“For seven o'clock. But we
don't have to go if you don't want to. I just thought that you would
like it.”
The insecurity was
clear in his lover's voice. Leaning over Gunn lovingly stroked Wes'
cheek. Sometimes it really astonished him how insecure the Englishman
was about such small things, as if he expected to be rejected every
second.
“Seven is fine, Wes.”
They had just arrived at Wes' apartment. “I'll head home for a
shower and then I'll pick you up. Ok?”
The smile, that
immediately spread over Wes' face as he nodded was answer enough.
Leaning over he kissed his Englishman again, trying to swipe away all
his insecurities with his tongue. Gunn was loosing himself in the
taste and feeling of his lover's lips against his own and protested,
when Wes pulled away.
“I need a shower, too.”
A quick 'good bye' kiss and he was gone. Waiting until his lover had
entered his flat, Gunn sighed. He would need a good excuse to get
away from the birthday party, but the prospect of a nice evening with
Wes was extremely enticing. Turning up his radio, Gunn drove towards
his own home.

Wes was already getting
nervous. It was five past seven and Gunn hadn't shown up yet. He
really should have more faith in his lover, but Gun hadn't seemed
happy about going out with him at first. He tried to fight back the
slivers of doubt that nagged him, but he wasn't able to beat them
down.
Rejection and hurt was
something he was familiar with, but he didn't expect Gunn to stand
him up. What if he went to the birthday party and found someone else?
Someone he had more in common with than a stuffy, English ex-watcher.
Pacing in his living room Wesley once again looked at the clock. Six
past seven. Sometimes he really hated his damn insecurity, but he
couldn't help it.
He breathed a sigh of
relief, when he saw Gunn's truck pull up. Immediately chastising
himself for not having enough faith in his lover, Wes hurried to the
door to greet Gunn. The darker man looked perfect, dressed in a
simple shirt and jeans. Pulling Wes close to his body he pressed
their lips together, briefly entangling their tongues, before he
released Wes' mouth again.
“Sorry, that I'm late. Got
stuck in traffic.” Taking in Wesley's look an appreciative
expression spread over his face. “You should wear those pants
more often. Are you ready to go?”
Following slightly
behind his English lover, Gunn took the opportunity to study Wes'
ass. He had never seen him wear tight leather pants before. But it
was definitely something, he would like to see more often. Except at
work, since he wouldn't be able to get work done then. Totally
engrossed in the sight before him, Gunn almost didn't realize that
Wes had stopped walking.
“Can we get to the restaurant,
if you are finished eying my behind.” But Gunn could see the
smile, that threatened to spread over Wes' face and the happy shine
in his eyes.
Quickly pinching the
enticing ass, Gunn answered: “Don't think I'll ever tire of
that sight.” A smile finally spread over Wesley's face, the two
of them got into the car and drove to the small Italian restaurant
Wes had chosen for their first real date.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The restaurant was
located in a quiet area of LA and had a beautiful outdoor pallor,
which was strangely empty. But Gunn and Wes didn't pay much attention
to that, since they were engrossed in a discussion over their last
job.
Entering the
restaurant, Wes frowned. Something wasn't right here. Not only were
there absolutely no guests present, but he was also unable to spot
waiters or other personnel. Why the hell did he pick the one
restaurant in LA, that was somehow strange?
“Anybody here?”
The two of them waited
a couple of minutes, but no one answered. Wesley was about to ask
Gunn if he wanted to leave, when they heard a loud crash from the
direction of the kitchen. Looking at each other, Wes quickly nodded
and they headed toward the back of the restaurant.
Carefully opening the
door, they were suddenly faced with a huge demon, that looked like a
heap of molten pizzas. Reacting quickly, Gunn grabbed a butcher knife
from above the stove and circled the monster. It was slow due to his
size, but he had no idea, where he needed to hit it.
“Wes, do you have any idea
what this is and how I can kill it?”
“No, but hacking it to bits
should work as usual.” Taking a kitchen knife himself, Wes
joined Gunn as he attacked the monster. It was large, but didn't put
up much of a fight, so they easily chopped it to bits.
Looking down at their
finished work, Gunn commented: “The next time I get to chose
the restaurant.” Wesley was currently glaring at the demon,
that had so rudely ruined his evening, an expression that Gunn found
pretty cute.
“I guess you'll go the party
now?”
“Nah, I said I'd go out with
you, so we'll do that.” Reaching out, he wiped a splatter of
pizza demon off Wes' face, before steering his lover out of the
restaurant.
