Chapter 8
Confrontations
“Hey, It’s Buffy…I um…I need some help…can you spare a few minutes to talk.
“Yeah I have some time…”
“It’s about ….Spike.” Buffy said softly.
“What did he do to you?”
“He didn’t do anything to me…He…He may be dying.” Buffy sobbed.
“And you care why exactly?” Said the angry voice over the phone.
“You don’t know Angel…You haven’t been here…things change…I please don’t make this any harder…you walked away from me remember?”
“I know I did Buffy, b did did that to give you a chance at a normal life…”
“But you didn’t give me any choice in the matter at all, and this is not why I called you! Damn it Angel…I love him…I do. I need to know what is happening to him…please…” Buffy was sobbing.
“Ok Buffy tell me what you know.” Angel sighed.
Buffy told him about the sunlight and the way Spike ate food. Real food.
How he relished in it especially chocolate.
Angel sighed

“There is one way. But it is not to be undertaken lightly.” The Male Oracle said gently
“We swallow this day, as though it never happened. Twenty-four hours from the moment the demon first attacked you, we take it back.” Said the Female oracle solemnly.
“Then none of this happened. Buffy and I... But, what'll stop us from doing the exact same thing?” Angel asked desperately.
“You. You alone will carry the memory of this day. Can you carry that burden?” She asked gently.

“That was unreal. How did you know how to kill it?” Buffy asked incredulous.
“It's a Mohra demon. I had a lot of time to catch up on my reading.” Angel shrugged.
“Yeah. Okay. So I guess we've covered it, right?” She asked softly.
“I guess we did.” Angel nodded.
“And that's all there really is to say.” Buffy said turning to walk away.
“Yeah. That's it.” Angel sighed as Buffy walked out into the sunlight.

“Buffy does Spike patrol with you?” Angel asked suddenly.
“Yeah he does.” She replied honestly.
“Have you guys come across a Mohra demon lately? Big ugly thing you have to smash the jewel in it’s head to kill it.” Angel asked.
“Yeah, uh …how did you know that?” Buffy asked suddenly nervous.
“I actually came across one…in a book…and uh…just guessed.” Angel replied.
“So what is it doing to him?” Buffy asked.
“It’s turning him human.” Angel replied a tiny hint of jealousy in his voice.
“What the hell do you mean Angel is this magic? Is it gonna disappear?” Buffy asked afraid to hear the answer.
“No Buffy, it’s permanent…Spike got a little of it’s blood on him right?
“Yeah …But uh….it was a lot of d…And…Angel he was covered in it. He ripped the demon apart with his bare hands cause it knocked me out.” Buffy said. “Come to think of it he had a lot of blood on him the first time too.”
“The first time?” Angel asked.
“Well we were patrolling and we fought some vamps. They got dusty and then this thing came at me before I could react it sliced my shoulder open and Spike came at it fangs a flyin’. Then he licked my wound cause you know healing saliva and all…we took its head to the magic box and then it was a few days later it came at us again…Spike literally ripped it to shreds before smashing it’s jewel.” Buffy explained. “The today he wakes up taking a sunbath all non-flamey.”
“So it was only today he’s changed?” Angel asked.
“No…I think he’s been changing for a couple of days now…he’s been warm, and with the demon as protective of me as he is..'
“What do you mean Buffy?” Angel asked, “He didn’t turn human right away?”
“No… and I’m not exactly sure that is what’s happening…like yeah sunlight big plus, but he still goes Vampy and drinks blood, although he hasn’t done it much the past two days…” Buffy trailed off
“Well Buffy, it’s supposed to happen right away…let me go and talk to some friends of mine…I’ll call you back.
“Ok Angel please hurry, I’ll be waiting for your call.” Buffy sighed into the phone.~~`

Spike needed to work off some of this energy, he went to the training room and took off his duster. Spike began pummeling the bag and it shook the rafters.

“Yes …It is something else entirely…something which no one would have guessed.” The male oracle said.
“But it was meant to be…I can see it now…someone helped but it will be alright.” The female Oracle said softly.
“But how can it be alright? She is my soulmate.” Angel said desperately.
“No she is not. You gave her back. Twice. You are not the one for her Angel…He is.” The Male Oracle said.
“How can he…He’s soulless you know? What if he hurts her?” Angel asked trying to understand.
“Angel, he claimed her. She belongs with him. And he belongs with her. They share fire, and passion and joy, they share the light and the darkness. They are truly soulmates. His soul is awaiting hers, when she dies…he will dust. It is to be. They will be together till the end of time. He is her missing piece. Let her be happy.” The Female Oracle said.
“Ok, tell me what to do…I only want her to be happy…” Angel sighed dejectedly.

“Well Angel this may be hard to hear…Spike claimed me and the second time he fought the demon…his demon wouldn’t leave until it knew I was ok. Had to taste me and everything…it was really…that’s when I”
“Buffy.” Angel cut her off. “You let him feed from you? What are you insane?” Angel yelled.
“Angel cut it out. He loves me…he would never hurt me, it was... it wasn’t lunchtime at the Buffy buffet. It’s not like that. And he’ll never leave me, do you want to help me or fight with me?” Buffy asked.
“Yeah I want to help. I…I’m just jealous Buffy, I thought…I …well It’s Spike…You know?” Angel said sullenly.
“Angel I loved you until I died…when I got brought back…I was different. I am a woman now, I am The Slayer and a woman. Spike got that. Spike gets me, He knows me, the good the bad and the ugly. And he still loves me. He still wants to be with me. I hope you understand Angel…I really do.
“Yeah Buffy, I understand. I’ll tell you what the Oracles told me and…I’ll do whatever you want Buffy, if you want me to…”
“Angel just tell me…we can sort the rest out later…just tell me how bad it is…” Buffy said softly.

Buffy walked out of the office with a huge smile on her face. “It’s ok…You guys it’s gonna be ok…” Buffy sobbed with relief.
Spike heard her come out of the office and was at her side instantly. “Buffy luv? What is it?” Spike asked.
“I talked to Angel…he had some answers…I think we should call Giles.” Buffy said “We can put him on speaker phone and …I’ll tell you all at once. Ok?” Buffy asked excitedly.

“I need to find him as soon as possible. He's not answering any of his numbers.” Buffy said into the phone.
“Miss Summers, the Watcher's Council does not keep track of our lapsed employees. Ever since Mr. Giles pulled up his stake in Sunnydale, we've not made it our business to follow his every move.” Quentin Travers stated in a clipped British accent.
“You don't have to get all British and dodgy, Mr. Travers. I know you have ways of finding him.” Buffy said rolling her eyes.
“Well, I suppose if you feel the matter's urgent, we can look into it.”

The Scoobies decided to move the talk to Buffy’s house just incase Giles got the message and called.
They all arrived at Buffy’s house and had just settled down to hear the news when there was a knock at the door.
Buffy went to answer it and threw the door wide when she saw who it was. With a squeal of delight she was in his arms.
