Before Show
Xander put his back to the wall as he held his stake out. This was bad. He'd seen the vampire stalking through the cemetery and thought he could take it. He had a cross, holy water, and his stake. He hadn't counted on the fact that it had a friend.
They were closing in on him like he was their next meal. Which he almost certainly was. The only real question was if he could take 1 of them with him.
Suddenly two bursts of light appeared and slammed into the vampires. It incinerated one and threw the other back 20' before it got up and ran away.
"Huh, I'm getting old, that should have destroyed both of them."
"Who are you?" Xander asked, surprised.
"Mayor Richard Wilkins," he said as he held out his hand. "Pleased to meet you."
Xander shook his hand. "The Mayor?"
"For a long time running. Come, we have a lot to get you ready for."
"Like what?"
"About how you are just beginning. About the Slayer, about the prophecy, and how you will be needed. But first, and most importantly," he said as he reached into his pocket. "Proper hygiene. Here's a wet wipe."
The Witch
Xander had to squeeze himself through the crowd of Sunnydale boys. Cheerleader tryouts. The most attended event of the year.
Buffy was keeping things practical and wearing a bikini for her exercises. Cordelia was in 'sport' lingerie for such an activity, as were most of the other wealthy girls.
Today he was going to be sharing this viewing experience with all the boys of Sunnydale. What they didn't know is that Buffy was going to be doing after hours exercise in the library and he planned to be a constant companion for those sessions.
Season 1 - Beginning of Season 3
The Sunnydale history continues to flow as normal (or has been changed to normal). Mayor Wilkens is an important ally and the body count of Sunnydale is even lower. He is not as strong as he was in the show, being a good person he doesn't have access to all of the demonic pacts the other version of him had made.
Faith, Hope, and Trick
"No, no, no," Mayor Wilkens said as he surveyed the motel. "This won't do for a girl at all. Or anyone. I'm going to get this building condemned and a proper hotel built here."
"I can't afford any..." Faith began.
He dismissed her suggestion quickly, "Don't even worry about that. I'll cover it."
"I guess I could use a sugar-daddy."
"What is a..." he looked visibly sick as he realized the suggestion. "No, of course not. You've had a tough life and are going to be putting yourself in danger for our fine city. The least we could do in return is give you our finest accommodations and a PlayStation."
Gingerbread
"I need your help," Willow said as she entered the Mayor's office.
"That's a mouse," the Mayor said as he looked closer. "Oh, that's Miss Madison."
"I can't figure out how to de-rat her," Willow admitted.
"Yes, that is a spell that is hard to undo when a person casts it on themselves," he replied. "Alan, can you come in here. Oh, and make an order for a three dozen roses and a gallon of salt water."
"Those ingredients will help with the spell?"
"No, those are for cleansing the room of the smell. The incantation is relatively..." he paused as he thought it through. "Also Alan, a woman's robe. I imagine Miss Madison did not have the ability to take her clothing with her during the transformation."
"I'd like to know how you do it."
"Unworking magic is frequently harder than making magic. That's why it is so easy for young witches to get in trouble. You can make a much more powerful spell than you can possibly stop."
Willow took a deep breath, "Can you train me how to do it?"
He moved his eyes to her, "Read Gilin's Book of Enchantments and practice the levitation spell."
"I've read that. And I can cast the spell."
"Read it again. Do the spell again. Do it until you can levitate an object to a precise moment in space."
"I restored Angel's soul. I'm ready for more," Willow said firmly.
He let out a sigh, "No, you're not. You have an immense amount of power, but power means you need to go slower, not faster. Do Gilin's Book of Enchantments and then I'll..."
He stopped talking as Willow turned and stormed out of the room.
"Golly," he said as he looked back to Amy. "I hope I didn't offend the young lady."
Consequences
"Faith, what's wrong?" Mayor Wilkens asked.
"I did something bad."
He sat with her as she described killing an innocent bystander.
"We're going to have to tell Mr. Giles," he said.
"But..."
"No, it will be all right. Trust me, trying to hide things like this only makes it worse. Things are going to be hard, but it is better if we deal with them now, okay?"
"Okay," she agreed.
