A few hours, and a pizza with everything later, we find our girls at Giles house slowly spilling out everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. Including Willow’s confession of her adoption. Giles was looking more and more alarmed as their story progressed until finally he got up and poured himself a stiff drink. A very stiff drink. “G, what’s up,” asked Faith. Giles chugged his drink in a very un-British way and then proceeded to polish his glasses thoroughly. “Giles, what doing on?” Willow asked nervously. Giles stood up and silently made his way to his book shelves. He pulled a book from his shelf and after thumbing through a few pages began to read out loud,
“When the balance between good and evil is at its most precarious,
the two mother-less daughters: one a witch and the other a slayer, will meet.
They will be lovers and warriors, side by side
They will be blessed with powers and will battle for good.
They will be known as the “Ones who will be.”
They will fight back the darkness.
From them a child will be born. The three will be known as the “ones who are.”
And they will champion over evil.”
Giles set the book down and grabbed another codex.
“The Wicca and the slayer
Soulmates from birth
Their powers will bind together
The witch will be warrior and the slayer will be sage
They are the ones who will be
From the motherless will be born a child.
Descendent of Wicca and slayer
The will be known as the ones who are.
A great battle will ensue
Darkness with rise up to the light
The ones who are will defeat the dark and restore the power of the light.”
Giles reached for yet another book while he girls sat in shock.
“When the time is right
The dark will rise against the light.
The last champions of the light
A slayer and a witch---known as the ones who will be
Will push back the dark, but only for a short time.
They will conceive a child
Together they will be the ones who will be.
Their powers will be mighty, but they will be destroyed in the last battle.
The death of the lovers and their daughter will tip the scales
Darkness will devour the Earth.”
Giles set the book down and took off his glasses. “There are hundreds, perhaps thousand of prophecies about the ones who will be. In some they win, in others they lose. However, it is said that they mankind’s only chance.” Giles paused, “Of course we will have to do more research, but with Willow’s new found strength and Faith’s new magic abilities, we have to strongly consider the possibility that you are the ones who will be.”
Faith heard what Giles was saying…well, sort of. The words soul mates and lovers were tumbling through her head. Soulmates? Lovers? A baby? Oh my God why am I feeling like this about Willow. Pay attention, Faith. Pay attention. Faith felt dizzy and unfocused. She could feel the blood rushing through her veins and she felt like she couldn’t breathe. Her heart was beating so wildly in her chest she could hardly hear anything but its incessant pounding. Over the roar she could hear that Willow had started talking and desperately tried to rein in her wild mind and body.
“Giles, I am a little confused, tired and overwhelmed right now. Could you call Anya and Xander and fill them in. Maybe Dawn could stay there one more night while Faith and I process this whole weight of the world on our shoulders thing, okay?” asked Willow.
“Sure, Willow, anything you’d like. I’ll do a bit more research tonight and see what I can come up with. We can all meet at the Magic Box tomorrow at 10:00.” Willow stood up and Faith dumbly followed suit, still feeling like she was in a fog.
“Okay then we’ll see you both tomorrow.” Giles walked them to the door, looking worriedly at Faith who still had not uttered a single word. Willow saw his worried look and took Faith by the hand. “It will be okay, Giles, we’ll see you tomorrow.”
The girls walked home silently, still holding hands. They entered the Summers’ home and locked the door behind them. Willow looked at Faith and saw something she had never seen before. Fear. In that moment she some how knew exactly what had Faith so completely freaked out. It wasn’t the future of mankind resting squarely on her shoulders, no, Faith was used to that. What Faith was not used to was soulmates. Lovers. Mothers. All those words Faith had never applied to herself before. In that instant Willow knew. She knew exactly what Faith needed, she knew she loved Faith despite all that had happened and she knew that it was time to accept her and Faith’s destiny. She had never felt more sure in all of her life.
Willow walked over to where Faith stood and wrapped her arms around Faith. Faith’s reaction was immediate. Her whole body went limp and she allowed Willow to guide her to the floor. Still in Willow’s arms, Faith sobbed. Body wrenching, heart breaking sobs. Years of tears flowed out of Faith while Willow held her closely. They stayed like that for over and hour, with Faith crying and Willow whispering, “I know, I know. Let it out, baby. I’ve got you.” Over and over Willow repeated those words until Faith lay calmly in her arms.
Faith wiped away the last of her tears. She felt like a million pounds of hurt had been poured out from her soul. She felt something brewing in her soul. Something new and thrilling. Hope.
“Jeez, Red, I really don’t know what to say,” Faith stated. She turned to look Willow in the face and saw that Willow was looking at her with acceptance. In that moment Faith knew, she knew without a doubt that she and Willow were going to kick evils ass. There would be no stopping them. The epiphany made Faith’s body hum and without saying a word Faith stood up gently pulling Willow up behind her. She stood facing Willow with their faces and bodies just inches apart. Faith reached out and put her hands on Willow’s hips, closing the distance between them. Their forehead touched, and with eyes closed they nuzzled each other gently. Soft cheeks and noses touched. Willow’s hand caressed Faith’s strong back, seeking out the place where shirt meets pants and slipping beneath to touch warm skin. Finally, their lips met in a passionate, but equally tender kiss.
The kiss went from tender to all consuming passion faster than a Ferrari gets from zero to sixty. Faith pulled Willow’s body up so that her legs where wrapped around her waist and carried her up the stairs to her room. Without breaking contact, Faith laid Willow on her bed and their sense of urgency multiplied by a thousand. Hands desperately searched out exposed skin and clothes were soon lying crumpled on the floor. Their breasts pressed against each other eliciting moans from the depths of both girls souls. There was no hesitation, no self consciousness, no doubt in either girls mind. Neither had felt so strongly before that they were safe and loved. Their tangled legs were repositioned so that their soft nether lips were touching and kissing gently. The urgency grew stronger and stronger until the girls were pressing and bucking against each other, lost in the warmth of each other.
Unbeknownst to the girls their heartbeats had synchronized and were beating like one strong heart. Faster and faster, keeping pace with the girls desperate thrusts against each other. Deep below them in the Earth, a ball of white energy began to form, pulsing and beating along with their hearts. It grew brighter and brighter until a stream of energy exploded upwards though the Earth streaming into Faith and Willow’s bodies at the exact time they each came forcefully, screaming out the other’s name.
Their heartbeats slowed. Exhaustion began to take over. They lay sweaty and exhausted, tangled in each other’s arms, whispering at the last moment before sleep overtook them, “I love you.”
