Not all the Watchers accompanied their Slayers into battle. Joyce Summers certainly wasn't a fighter, but she had taken a certain amount of defence classes and in a pinch she could cast a basic spell which would incapacitate an attacker, so she felt as comfortable as she could be watching from a distance. That's why I have gone to great lengths to give you exactly what you need.
