Disclaimer: I do not own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel the Series. They are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy et al. I do not make money from the writing of this, it is purely entertainment. I do not mean any disrespect to the actors who have portrayed these characters. This fic contains explicit Male/Male relationships if you are adverse to this or are under the age of eighteen then please do not read. Thankyou to all the online writers who help keep the Buffyverse alive.
Summary: What if Buffy couldn’t stop the snake demon before it got back to Glory. Starts in the Buffy Season 5 Episode Shadow but then goes AU. Angel is the same as cannon up to this point except that Darla is not visiting Angel in his dreams despite having been brought back by Wolfram and Hart you’ll find out why later. Furthermore, this follows Jenns fic Playing Games found at AdultFanFiction or the Slashaholics Island. You don’t need to have read that to follow this but I do recommend it as it’s a great fic. I moved the timeline back a bit so that by the Season 5 Ep Shadow the boys are a threesome and Spike and Xander are only in Sunnydale to pick up their stuff before moving in with Angel.

Reviews: LadyVirgo1956 - Thankyou for the double review, its called friends came over early last night and they don't know about my slash addiction so I couldn't update here. Glad yu enjoyed both chapters and no Wolfram and Hart don't know about Glory, we'd be in so much more trouble if they did.
Kage - Yes Xander cuffed to a steering wheel is funny but I origanly got the idea from Jackie Chan, ever seen Rush Hour. Anyway thanks so much, I love receiving reviews.
Daeomae - Thank for the continued support, Xander is definitely going to make them pay.
A/N: A big thanks to Jenn for allowing me to use some of her ideas evident in Playing Games. Buffyworld is back! A big thanks to Howard Russell for bringing such a wonderful resource back online.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Angel and Spike surveyed the greenhouse that sat on top of a normal, everyday, office block building. They could see moment inside the greenhouse and instinctively knew it was Drusilla. Neither was looking forward to this encounter but they knew it was needed. Drusilla and Darla together again would be a major threat to them and to all those Angel promised to protect. They had to be stopped before they caused any damage. Besides, with the threat of Glory over their heads the vampires really didn’t need anymore complications. The sooner they crushed this threat the better.
In silent agreement the two leather-clad shapes dropped down onto the building and stalked cautiously towards the greenhouse. They knew Drusilla was around somewhere but when they silently pushed the door open just enough to slip through one at a time there was no sign of her. Spike stayed near the door as Angel moved to the large seedbed table filled with dirt. It was a large possibility that this was where Darla was buried so he carefully ran his hands over the surface of the dirt. Angel could feel Darla’s body buried under the dirt and instinctively knew where her head was positioned so he began to carefully brush the dirt aside revealing the head of a shroud-wrapped body. Spike watched as Angel carefully pulled the thin material back to reveal Darla’s face. Angel stood their remembering all their history as took in the peaceful-looking features of what was once his Sire, lost in thought.
“Hurry up,” Spike hissed as he watched Angel just stand there; now was not the time for a long brood, they needed to stake the ice-queen and then skedaddle before Drusilla came back. Spike didn’t want to face his dark goddess; his thoughts were very confused on the subject. He knew that their time was over and that he would do anything to protect Angel and Xander, but he didn’t want to fight Drusilla… that didn’t mean he wouldn’t. Spike watched Angel raise the stake, and Drusilla sneaking up behind him with a shovel in her hand, unaware of anything else but of Angel standing over Darla. Spike sprung into action tackling Drusilla to the ground but Angel’s concentration was broken and he turned to assess the threat to his Childe. Spike and Drusilla untangled and stood.
"That's not a fitting gift at all for our newborn grand-mummy." Drusilla stated staring at the stake still in Angel’s hand. The two males stood between Drusilla and Darla’s grave determined to stop Drusilla and then stake Darla. Drusilla turned to Spike, her once companion.
"I saw you coming, my lovely. The moon showed me. It told me to come into the twentieth century."
"It's the Twenty-first century, Dru." Spike replied trying not to smile, she hadn’t changed a bit but he had, and was not going to move from Angel’s side.
"Hmm, I'm still lagging." Then Drusilla lashed out with the shovel hitting Spike under his chin and throwing him back against the wall. Angel watched as Spike flew through the air, knowing that Spike would be up again he turned back to Drusilla just as Darla woke up with a gasp. Angel and Drusilla fought, each giving as good they got, unaware that Darla was sitting up behind them, gasping and staring round the room. However Spike did see and took another flying tackle across the room. His impact with Darla saw them both tumbling off the table before it tipped over and fell on top of them, sending dirt everywhere. Angel managed to break the shovel handle off in Dru’s hand, since he had lost his stake in the fight before knocking her to the ground and turned, ready to stake Darla. Instead he found the table knocked over, dirt everywhere with Spike lying under it all, knocked unconscious again, but rapidly coming round. Suddenly Angel was grabbed by the throat and lifted about a foot off the ground by Darla.
“Now everybody’s home,” Drusilla trilled spinning in a circle. "Baby's up from her little nap." Darla looked over at Drusilla as if seeing her for the first time and that was all the distraction Angel needed in order to chop down on her extended elbow, managing to break her grip on him. Before she retaliated Angel had thrown her headfirst into some planters. He quickly picked up his stake and headed for Darla but Dru tackled him and managed to throw the stake away from her Sire.
Spike stood up in game face, pissed off at both vampiress’, and on seeing Drusilla on top of Angel he ripped her off the older vampire. Before he could move towards Drusilla though Darla was behind him, trying to stake Spike with the broken shovel handle. Spike was forced to dodge the stabs until Angel hit her in the head knocking her away. Angel saw a blur of white heading past him to the exit and he just managed to grab a hold of Darla before she ran into the night. He pulled her back but the blonde turned his own motion against him crashing them both into a table. Darla managed to get the upper hand and threw Angel across the room straight into Spike sending them both tumbling onto the floor.
“Bloody hell,” Spike growled as his head hit the hard concrete, he had been doing too much of that tonight, and he was glad Xander wasn’t up here where the mortal boy would have definitely gotten hurt.
"Grandmum." Drusilla placed a hand on Darla’s shoulder but Darla tossed her away, wanting nothing to do with her. Darla noticed the two male vampires straightening up and she ran straight at Angel tackling him backwards through the glass wall of the greenhouse, landing them back outside on the roof. Drusilla and Spike started to fight each other as they jumped through the hole following the older two. Drusilla managed to toss Spike over to Angel before Darla now in vamp face tackled her to the ground and began to shake her while Drusilla just laughed, enjoying it. Darla seemed to suddenly realise who she was shaking and stopped.
“Drusilla?” Before the dark haired vampiress’ could say anything Darla jumped up and ran to the edge of the roof, looked down before getting up onto the edge and stepped off just as Angel was getting back up. The two male vampires ran to the edge and looked down to the street six stories below but there was no sign of Darla. Spike turned round to look for Drusilla but she seemed to have disappeared as well.
“Bugger, well that didn’t go to well, peaches,” Spike observed lighting up and staring over the buildings into the distance. Angel moved over to him and coming up behind laid his head on Spike’s shoulder before snaking his hands around Spike’s torso and grabbing the cigarette, taking a drag before passing it back to the younger vampire silently.
“We’d better get back to Xander,” Angel finally spoke breaking the silence, attempting not to think of the two vampiress’ loose on LA.
“Think he’s going to forgive us anytime soon?” Spike asked, turning away from that side of the building and heading back the way they came.
“No, but I’d rather have him healthy and well and pissed off at us than let him come and be hurt. Or us being hurt cos we were worried we would hit him as we were being thrown about.” Spike had nothing to say to that, feeling the same way but knowing that it would take a lot of sucking up for Xander to forgive them after the drugging incident so closely followed by handcuffing him to the car. They made their way back to the car and Xander becoming aware of the cuts and bruises over both of them that they hadn’t noticed in the heat of the fight. When they jumped off the building landing next to the convertible they were greeted with a crossbow pointing at them before Xander realised who it was and put the crossbow down. He glared at them shaking the hand attached to the steering wheel making the metal handcuffs clunk about. Angel sighed and moved closer, taking the key out of his pocket suddenly glad that it hadn’t fallen out in the fight.
“Oh my god, are you both okay?” Xander gasped when he saw Angel’s face clearly in the light of a street lamp. It was cut up and bruises were already forming marring those Angelic features.
“Yeah pet, we’re fine,” Spike told him, jumping into the car beside the mortal and cuddling up to him. Angel undid the cuff and Xander brought his hands in close to his body so that they wouldn’t have a chance to do it again.
“Good, now I can be pissed off at you both without feeling guilty.” Xander moved as far away from Spike as he could without ending on top of Angel who had gotten behind the wheel. “So, did you stop them,” Xander finally asked after a long silence.
“No,” Spike was the one to answer.
“Sooo, what do we do now?”

Lindsey, Lilah and their boss Holland were in Lindsey’s office congratulating themselves over the success of having Drusilla turn Darla, and the two immortals subsequent promise to go on a spree.
"Those two should keep Angel busy for some time." Lilah remarked smugly.
"Yeah, until he kills them." Lindsey remarked irritably, sick of the wheelchair he was still confined to except for his rehabilitation sessions. Of course his other disability wasn’t helping there either.
"Oh, I think he'll find that course of action more difficult than even he realizes. Regardless, Lilah's correct. We won't have to worry about Angel anymore." Holland surveyed his two best employees, already working out what task he could put them both onto next. At that moment, Angel, holding onto a rope crashed through the window into Lindsey’s office, scattering glass everywhere. Spike followed him through and then Xander swung through the now empty window-frame. Angel grabbed a hold of Lilah while Spike went for Holland and Xander pulled the mini-crossbow out of his jacket and held it unerringly towards Lindsey, when Lindsey leant towards his desk and a hidden gun.
“I’ve shot you once, don’t think that I will hesitate to use this again,” Xander was all business keeping all of his attention on the wheelchair bound lawyer, who was furious that he was powerless against the youth.
"Dru and Darla, where are they?" Angel demanded all business.
"Angel! I don't believe we've had the pleasure.” Holland tried to move around Spike hand extended but stopped when Spike growled warningly at him showing his game face. “Holland Manners."
"I'd be careful who you offer that hand to, Mr. Manners. You might just lose it. Isn't that right, Lindsey?" Angel warned getting a dig into the incapacitated lawyer.
"There's worse things to lose, aren't there?" Lindsey tried to talk big, staring at Xander, knowing Angel would understand it for the threat it was. Angel ignored him and turned to Spike holding Holland.
"So you're the one pulling the strings around here?"
"A few of them. I am division head of Special Projects." Holland’s chest swelled up importantly as he recited his title.
"Special projects like Darla." Spike finally spoke.
"Oh, Darla's just a tool. Means to an end.” The trio rotated round as the door opened on a bunch of security guards filing in and surrounding them. “You're the project, Angel."
"I can crush the life out of her before they even lift a finger." Angel threatened quietly as he tightened his grip on Lilah.
"Oh, I'm sure you can. Just as sure as I am that you won't." Holland replied feeling extremely confident of the outcome of this little encounter.
"Won't I?" Angel threatened.
"You don't kill humans." Spike growled in the over-assertive humans ear.
“He mightn’t but I do,”
“You won’t hurt me either Spike cos if you do you’re human lover over there will spend the rest of his life in jail for murdering me. We’re lawyers, it can be easily arranged.” Angel was incensed he turned on Holland snarling.
"You don’t qualify as human. You set things in motion, play your little games up here in your glass and chrome tower, and people die… innocent people."
"And yet I just can't seem to care.” Xander stared at the older man not believing that a human could be so callous. “But you do.” Holland continued staring at Angel. “ And while you're making threats, wasting time, crashing through windows, your girls are out painting the town red, red, red."
"Where?" Spike demanded.
"Well, that would be telling. In any case you may want to hurry. So many lives hanging in the balance, waiting for their champion to save them," he mocked. Angel glanced around taking in the guards holding Tasers and stakes at the ready.
"Hm-mm. As if you're just gonna let us walk out of here, huh?" Angel challenged.
"As a matter of fact, I am. You misunderstand us, Angel. We don't want you dead… yet. If we did… you wouldn't be standing here.” Holland addressed the guards. “Would you please escort our guests out of the building.” He turned back to Angel wanting to gloat a little more. “I would… walk you out myself, but I'm running a little late for a wine tasting at my home, and… just so we're clear on the matter… you're not invited." Holland walked out, the three lovers tensed a little as the guards pushed them towards the door but they let them lead them out without a fuss. Lilah followed them down the lift and out the front doors of Wolfram and Hart.
"I'll send you a bill for the window.” Lilah told them.
"Yeah, you do that, and after I stop Darla and Dru,” cops suddenly surround the three lovers and handcuff their arms behind them, Angel and Spike could hear Xander’s heart speed up but were proud that none of his anxiety showed on the outside. “I might come back to pay you in person." Angel threatened.
"Yeah, go do your little champion of justice thing and then come back and see me… if you make bail. Give them a nice holding cell, officers. With a window , southern exposure preferred. The firm may not want you dead, but I'm cool with it." With that Lilah smirked at them one last time before turning and walking back into the office building. The police offices pushed all three into the back of one unmarked cop car. Angel moved closer to Xander letting their thighs touch, offering comfort before he picked up on a smell he knew, he turned to the front of the car and there was Kate sitting in the front passenger seat watching the three of them.
"Perfect.” Spike complained as the car pulled into the traffic.
“So, how do you want to do this?” Angel asked tetchily, “Should I escape now or wait till you transfer me to another holding cell, because I'm really not..." Kate interrupted him all business.
"Two people were just murdered in a clothing store at Fifth and Hill. Preliminary reports say that two women were spotted leaving the scene. The victims had puncture wounds on their necks or wrists and had been drained of all their blood. They're not done, are they?"
"No. Why are you telling me this?"
"Because I don't think I can stop them. Maybe you can. Pull over," she instructed the driver, pulling out a key. Xander twisted round so that she could undo his cuffs as he was the closest to her. He then took the key and undid the two vampires bounds. The car stopped and as Spike and Xander got out of the car Angel nodded once to Kate before following, intent on stopping the vampires before they killed anyone else.
