(short chapter, sorry - but there will be more...promise)
Pulling her best friend into a tight hug Buffy’s eyes connect with Faith’s over Willow’s shoulder in silent communication of what needs to be done. With a short nod, the dark slayer stands saying, “Alright, T-Bear you’re with me, we’ll search for him around campus. Red, you and B can search downtown while G-man and Mrs. S hold the fort.”
Separating from the hug Willow nods telling the group, “He was going to meet this guy at Gordo’s Guitar shop on McCullum road, we’ll start there.” at which Buffy nods before moving to the hall closet to pick out some weapons saying, “Giles, his number is on speed dial, number four. Keep trying it. If you hear from him, we’ve got our cells on.”
As Faith moves to the weapons chest in the closet next to Buffy to pick out what she’ll need, Tara stands by the front door waiting and says, “Adara will go with us, Buffy. With her power up she’ll be good to have with.” Pulling a short sword out of the chest the blonde slayer turns giving the tall hunter a quick glance before saying, “Fine, but will you need a weapon, Adara?”
Holding open her duster the hunter whispers, “Reveal.” Having a long sword appear strapped to her waist along with a bandolier across her torso with stakes and what look like grenades she gives a small smile saying, “Thank you, but no.”
Chuckling softly, unable to resist a jab at her sister slayer, Faith teases, “Her sword is bigger than your sword, B.” which in turn gets the brunette another eye roll and a grumbled, “Grow up, F.”
At the door with everyone ready to go on their split search for Oz, Joyce squeezes Willow’s shoulder supportively while telling Adara, “Mikel will be safe with us here, Adara. You all be safe out there.” and she stands back with Giles as they watch their “kids” go out to search and possibly battle an unknown enemy who may have one of their own.
Having searched the whole of UC Sunnydale campus, Faith, Tara and Adara made their way toward the woods that lined the northern most football field. Faith walked a few feet ahead of the two Wiccans as they talked quietly about Adara’s ability to do magic combined with her fighting when suddenly the dark slayer stops her forward movement causing Tara to run into her and the blonde witch utters a muffled, “Oof!”
Before Tara can ask, Faith whispers, “There is a Were up ahead. Can’t tell if it’s Oz but I am also picking up several vamps on his tail.” and the three women begin running toward where Faith indicated.
Preparing a spell Tara opens her senses picking up the faint signatures of the vamps Faith mentioned as well as the werewolf and whispers, “It’s Oz.” knowing him by his distinct aura.
Unsnapping her long sword, Adara whispers, “Shadows wrap to dull the senses of mine enemy.” suddenly becoming a dark, misty blur of movement swiftly running toward the threat she feels causing her flesh to tingle in anticipation of battle.
Before the trio can reach the wood line Oz comes stumbling out yelling, “Six, Faith!” as he slumps to the ground bleeding from numerous wounds too exhausted to do anymore running. Jumping over the slight hedge into the woods behind it Faith prepares to battle the six vamps Oz mentioned before they can reach the open field beyond her.
Reaching the fallen young man Tara breathes, “Oh, shit!” as Faith had obviously allowed several vamps to slip by her and they come crashing out of the woods, one demanding, “Give us the wolf!”
Adara, sword in one hand, stake in the other continues her forward movement grating, “From darkness you come, to darkness you go!” as she slices through the leader’s neck, rendering him to dust while staking another vamp who happens to be in the line of her swinging stake.
Standing in front of the collapsed Oz, Tara mutters a protection spell around the two of them calling out loudly, “Faith, we need help!” while quickly forming a fire ball in her hand to throw at a vamp trying to come from behind Adara. Seeing Faith come running back out of the woods onto the field yelling, “Not six!” the blonde witch doesn’t wait to see that her fireball eliminated the threat to her new friend and sister Wiccan.
Stopping beside Adara, panting softly as a least a dozen more vamps come streaking out of the woods behind her, Faith shakes her head hearing, “Six or sixteen, we can do this together, Slayer.” realizing she may have met her match for crazy when it comes to fighting the creatures of the night.
Not commenting the dark slayer throws herself into battle fighting for all she and her friends are worth feeling more than seeing that Adara is doing the same.
