= Atlantis, Chapter Two =
"This is..." Wesley shook his head and looked around the large room they now inhabited. There were four cots aligning two walls. Across from Wesley was an open doorway, and along the other wall was a long table with a small statue of Artemis with a boarded up window above it. Large candles lit up the area, giving light to Gunn's pacing form. Xander and Spike were in another part of the temple, helping the small group of priestesses with Tara. Wesley suspected Thelsea was also interrogating them.
"Where are we?" Gunn asked, turning to give him an expectant look. "I know you know, Wes."
"Atlantis." Wesley replied.
"No shit-" Gunn started.
"The Lost City of Atlantis." Wesley interrupted. "It was described in great detail in one of Plato's works. Atlantis was a great metropolitan, that governed over it's island and the lands beyond. It had advanced technology, at least nine hundred years in advance. Though, some say that it was nine thousand years. It depends on how correct the translation truly was."
"So... That's where we are?" Gunn asked. "In the past?"
"No." Wesley shook his head. "I do think we are in another dimension... Perhaps one in which Atlantis did not meet its untimely demise. One where gods and goddesses are still worshiped, and most likely exist as well."
"That's the last thing we need." Gunn told Wesley, sitting down next to him on the cot. Wesley shifted an inch away from him, a move that Gunn apparently ignored. "A bunch of psycho gods on our ass while we try to get home? Man, I remember reading that Odyssey shit in school."
"Yes, they are very strange." Wesley shrugged. "These might not be the same gods that were worshipped in the classical Greece we know today."
"How do you suppose we'll get home?" Gunn questioned. "There isn't any way Angel will hold up without us, man."
"Yes, the world is doomed without our presence." Wesley said with obvious self-contempt.
"I wonder if that Tara chick woke up." Gunn said, changing the subject. He hated to see Wesley go down on himself like that, but he had learned that the best method was to change the subject rather than call him on it.
"We'll find out when Spike and Xander return." Wesley replied. "Her fainting like that was rather peculiar..."
Wesley trailed off as they heard arguing coming down the hall. The thump of footsteps could be heard, along with a low growl. He immediately recognized it as Spike and Xander fighting. When they had first came to Sunnydale in order to aide in the battle against the Kranthsaw, Wesley and Gunn were both introduced to the marvel that was Spike and Xander fighting. Spike suddenly stormed into the room, Xander hot on his tail.
"Will you stop it?" Xander hissed at the blonde vampire.
"I don't bloody trust her." Spike replied, his voice cold. Xander took a step towards him, his face hard.
"We don't have much choice." Xander said.
"Still don't trust her." Spike retorted.
"Well, she's helping Tara, isn't she?" Xander asked, stomping over to one of the beds. He kicked off his shoes and then yanked off his bright orange shirt. Sending a glare at Spike, he pulled back the covers and crawled in. "I think in this situation, we need all the help we can get."
"Right, well, when the bint goes and turns us into a couple of stags or something don't blame me." Spike growled, before chucking off his duster, shoes, and black t-shirt. Wesley and Gunn watched as Spike took hold of Xander's blanket and slid underneath it. The cot was a small fit, yet both men shifted around until they were comfortably laying there, glaring at one another.
"I know what you're trying to do, Spike." Xander said in a low voice.
"Oh, really? Question your judgment?" Spike sneered.
"No." Xander narrowed his eyes. "You stupid vampire."
"Stupid?" Spike glared. Xander glared back and nodded. With a deep growl, Spike suddenly rolled on top of Xander and began devoured his mouth his own. Xander moaned appreciatively, wrapping his arms around Spike's torso. Their hands stroked and massaged in a feverish passion. Spike's hips thrusted down against Xander as they kissed deeply.
"Excuse me!" Wesley sputtered, leaping to his feet. Gunn sat behind him, mouth open and eyebrows trying to disappear skyward. Wesley placed his hands on his hips and glared as Spike and Xander continued to ignore him. "You will stop this instant! I do not want to have the two of you copulating while I am in the room."
"Oh please, shut up Wesley." Xander half moaned as Spike sucked on his neck.
"I will not!" Wesley exclaimed. He took a step towards him, lowering his voice until it was a hiss. "This is a sacred building! Do you wish to have us kicked out?"
"Fine!" Spike snapped. "Bloody wanker."
"That was..." Gunn trailed off, unable to describe what he had just witnessed.
Wesley sighed and climbed into one of the vacant cots. Gunn took one more glance at the couple, while crawling into his own. Spike was still on top of Xander, his arms and legs wrapped around Xander like a vice. Xander seemed unperturbed, as though this was a nightly occurrence. The brunette grinned at Gunn, before cuddling into Spike's protective embrace. Gunn shook his head and looked over at the scowling Wesley before rolling over to face the wall.
Morning came all too quickly for Xander. He felt as though he had only slept a couple of hours, which considering his lifestyle was a large possibility. Taking a deep breath, he smiled as the scent of Spike surrounded him. The vampire was still curled around his body, like he always did when they slept. Xander threw out one arm, smacking his lips and hoping to be able to reach the glass of water he kept perched on his nightstand. When his hand encountered nothing, just empty space and the end of an awfully small bed, Xander blinked his eyes open.
The night before came rushing back like a tidal wave. Groaning, he buried his face in the crook of Spike's neck. The sound of soft footsteps caught his attention. Xander peeked over Spike's shoulder, watching as a gorgeous blonde girl, no older than Dawn, entered the room. Her white robe looked startlingly bright in the dark room. The candles had already gone out, and the only light was coming from the doorway and cracking through the wood panel of the window. Xander blinked, his eyes fuzzy, as the girl walked over to the table.
Xander opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out as the girl swiftly pulled the panel off the window ledge. Xander gasped, wrapping his arms around Spike. He fought to grab the blanket, in order to cover the vampire, but the sun was too quick and soon it's rays were stretched out across their cot. Xander squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for Spike to turn to dust in his arms. When Spike remained sold, his hold still strong, Xander opened his brown eyes.
"Spike?" Xander asked softly, poking Spike hard in his side.
"What?" Spike grunted.
"Spike, wake up." Xander ordered. Spike let out a small groan before lifting his head. Xander stared up at him, a look of pure shock on his face.
"What is it, whelp?" Spike asked, his voice low and drowsy.
"Look at the window." Xander said slowly, his eyes unblinking. Frowning, Spike glanced over, before letting out a yelp as the bright light of the sun shined into his eyes. Spike leapt off the bed and quickly staggered back into the corner. Xander quickly stood and knelt down next to the vampire. "Spike, it's okay. I don't know why, exactly... But you're not dust."
"Bloody hell." Spike whispered, slowly stepping forward. He stared at the window with wide eyes, their blue depths looking like a pale sky in the lighting. He turned to Xander, a slow grin appearing on his face. "Pet, I think I like this dimension."
"You're going to prance outside and dance in the sun, aren't you?" Xander asked, smiling.
"Man, I hope not." Gunn's voice commented. The black man rubbed at his face, before turning to look over at Wesley. The ex-Watcher was still sleeping, curled up into a little ball. Gunn's mouth twitched into a small smile, before turning back to them expressionless. "Well, it's morning. What now?"
"I vote we check on Tara, then try to get home." Xander replied.
"What about that commander?" Gunn asked. "Dude said we had to go to some meeting."
"Yeah, about that..." Xander sighed and sat back down on the bed.
"What about it?" Wesley's soft voice asked. The British man sat up, his eyes drooping sleepily.
"Thelsea said that Commander Cyrek was pretty much a lame bastard who probably had no plan in calling us to the King's Order like he should." Xander explained. "She said that he had a habit of dumping some of his non-threatening captives on the temples. The temples, being all generous like, would remain quiet about it and help them out. She was one of the few temples that didn't appreciate the good commander."
"That explains why Achilen was so nervous about coming here last night." Wesley commented.
"Yeah, well, Thelsea is one stern talking woman, let me tell you." Xander rolled his eyes. "She practically ordered us to bed last night when we tried to help with Tara."
"How was Tara?" Wesley asked.
"Still unconscious when we left. They were bathing her and putting her in one of the anti-chambers." Xander said.
"Bunch of lesbians." Spike muttered.
"Shut up, Spike." Xander said, though he was grinning. "Anyway, Thelsea insisted that she remain as close to the temple's inner sanctum as possible. She wants to go over Tara's condition after lunch, if she has yet to awaken."
"Ah, well, then I suggest we get some more rest." Wesley replied, yawning. "The better rested we are, the more aware we will be in finding a suitable way home."
"I'm with English." Gunn agreed.
"Right." Xander nodded in agreement and fell back onto his cot. "We sleep a few more hours, then start investigating. Huh, look at that. We have a plan. We rock!" Xander grinned up at Spike. "Now, back to bed... Or do you want to go dance in the sunlight?"
