Willow pushed herself back against the tree as a spider about the size of a big dog emerged from the darkness. She barely felt the thorns digging into her back, paralyzed with fear. The spiders disturbing eyes flicked to her, a small chittering noise made by its fangs as it turned to her. {Probably shouldn't have alerted it of my presence..} She cursed herself inwardly as it crawled towards her. When it finally reached her, it looked her up and down before sinking its fangs into her thigh. She shrieked at the new pain. Of course, as the slayers friend, she had been bitten by vampires before, and that hurt too. But there was something different about this. She could feel the blood being pulled from her like it would with a vampire, but a fire burned through her veins. She broke out into a sweat, shaking and slouching in the chains more every second. When she tried to shake herself lose from its fangs, she found she couldn't move anything. Not her legs, arms, neck, not even her face or eyes. Her lips were pressed together tightly, and were forced to stay that way, putting slight strain on her jaws. She wondered, as the world around her started to fade, if it had poisoned her. Then, finally, for the first time since she had been trapped here, darkness swallowed her.
~When she opened her eyes, she expected to see the creepy cave and forest. So of course it shocked her to see she was in a nice dreamspace, her heart leaping with joy when she spotted Tara. But the thing that disturbed her most, was that she couldn't run to the girl. There was something in her that told her this was the real Tara, not just a dream. Even if it wasn't.. She needed to say some things. "I'll always be with you, no matter what my love. No matter what, you'll come out of this stronger. And always remember that even if it doesn't seem like it.. I'm always there." Willows heart ached when Tara's beautiful eyes filled with tears, her voice thick with emotion when she replied.
"But.. But what if /you/ dont make it out of this..? How would I-" Willow gave in, stepping forward to cup the blondes cheek.
"You have more than me baby.. And you're your own person. You don't need me to survive or be happy.. You're an amazing, kind woman, and nothing can change that." She paused, suddenly remembering the years she had spent grieving over and missing Tara. "I need you to promise me something." The look on Tara's face made her heart ache, but she knew she had to say this.
"Anything!"
"If I don't make it through this, promise me you won't spend the rest of your life grieving over me." Tara froze in shock and disbelief, her voice barely more than a squeak,
"I-"
"Find someone else. Live your life happily.. You deserve it." Although solemn, her words were genuine.
"I'm- I'm not sure I could-" Tara paused, a look of hurt spreading on her face. "Are you saying you won't w-wait for me..?" Willow sighed, pained that she could think that. She planted a gentle kiss on her forehead,
"Tara, baby.. You're the only thing that makes me feel human." She decided to reword it, considering she wasn't sure if, in a hell dimension, feeling 'human' was possible. "You're the only person who can make me feel special." She frowned, remembering her small speech to Buffy at Racks after Tara had been killed.
"You too - I could never love anyone else!" The pain in Taras voice made her heart ache even more. Despite it all, she gave a small, pained chuckle,
"That's what I thought with Oz.. But look at us now." She paused, face hardening seriously again, "Promise me, Tara. Promise me you won't spend the rest of your life grieving."
"B-But - you could survive this! D-Don't talk like you're going to die!" Willow cupped her other cheek too, feeling tears slip from her eyes.
"I might not die.. But we don't know if I'll be trapped in this dimension for the rest of my life. If you can't bring me back, don't blame yourself. I was the one who put myself in this mess." Despite the tug on her heart, she knew she had to be brutally honest. She had blamed herself for Taras death, and couldn't stand her going through the same thing.
"No you didn't-" Her eyes closed, pained that Tara was still defending her.
"Yes.. I did. Promise me, Tara." Her voice was thick with emotion, her heart flopping painfully as she watched Tara mentally war with herself.
"I-" Willow wrapped her arms around the girl when she fell into her embrace, lowering her nose to rest in her soft hair. If only this wasn't a dream. Oh, how she longed for the girls wonderful scent. "I promise.. I promise…"
"Its okay Tara.. I'll never truly leave you. I'll be waiting for you.." She reassured the girl softly. The ground under her feet suddenly fell, a shriek torn from her mouth as she plunged into the darkness. Tara screamed for her, both of them reaching for the others hand. Their fingertips barely grazed each other, and then Willow was out of reach. She fell at a sickening pace, her body seeming to crush under the pull of gravity. She finally hit a hard surface with a breathless grunt. Willow found herself back in the cave, the setting ominously real feeling. If she wasn't certain she hadn't woken up, she would have thought it /was/ real. She found her eyes skimming the row of shackled victims. When she spotted the lovely blonde, she tried to run to her. To save her. She couldn't be here! This place was hell as it was for her, but to see Tara hurt? That would destroy her. But it seemed the ground was some sort of treadmill, since she hadn't gotten any closer to her. Her knees gave out in defeat, a screech coming from her when a burning iron was shoved against Tara's side..~
Willow woke to an intense pain with a screech, panting when her eyes flicked down to see a red-hot iron searing into her flesh. Despite the pain, she calmed a bit, remembering that was just a dream. Tara wasn't really here. The rod was pulled away and she looked up weakly, barely able to lift her head. She groaned to see the demon in front of her, grinning as he set the rod down.
"I see you got introduced to my little pet.."
"Figures you'd find /that/ cute.." She whispered weakly, receiving a chuckle. He stepped forward, grabbing her shoulder tightly. She grimaced in pain, the grimace turning to a screech when it felt as if her body were on fire. From the first day here, she knew what that felt like. It suddenly stopped. Her head drooped weakly, but she noticed the wounds on her body were gone.
"I need you functioning. No fun when you're acting like a dead body." He explained, cutting her down from the tree. She panted, but noticed that she did, in fact, feel a bit stronger. "But the burning sensation is a neat add on. Wouldn't want you to want it." Willow glared at him, finally able to raise her head. He snickered, grabbing the rod again. Willow felt fear rumble in her stomach. With her body healed, would it take longer for her to finally become numb to this pain? Oh goddess she hoped not. She screeched when it was shoved into her side again.

When Willow fell out of her reach, Tara had screamed, waking herself. A hand touched her shoulder gently, startling her.
"W-Willow-?" She turned, trying not to sigh in disappointment when she saw Buffy. It would be so easy to believe all this was a dream. But she knew it wasn't.
"Are you okay..?" Tara sighed,
"Just a bad dream." She lied, not wanting to worry Buffy more. The dream wasn't necessarily /bad/ until the end. She wasn't even sure it was a dream, if she was being honest. Willows presence felt so real. /Willow/ felt so real. Was it possible their minds somehow merged for a small time? Taras heart sank. Was it possible the powers were giving them a chance to say goodbye..? No. No matter what, she was /going/ to get Willow back. At the back of her mind, she knew that wasn't as certain as she thought it was.
