Apparently, he did sleep, but didn't want her to do the same. Every couple seconds, molten hot lead was poured down on her through a grate above her body, scratchy screams of agony pulled from her when it did. She didn't know how long she was there alone with that, listening to the sound of his loud snores. At some point in this time, she retracted herself to her mind, almost - but not quite - numbing herself from what happened to her body, as she grew used to the intervals when the lead would be poured on her body. She guessed that was the only reason, because try as she might, before this with the other tortures, she hadn't been able to retreat to her mind. The pain was still there, but she seemed to seperate part of herself from her body. {Though,} She reasoned bitterly, {I wasn't really in my /real/ body in the first place, was I?} Willow started when a voice reached her,
"Hello again.." But.. It wasn't the demon. There was no one in the room with her. That voice she knew well, but knew couldn't possibly be real. Tara certainly couldn't be here. Tara wasn't as naive as she clearly had been. "I know you probably won't hear this if you didn't the last time.." {Last time?} Willow winced when she was burnt again, but didn't stir from her retracted state. {Is it possible that.. That shes with my /real/ body right now..? But she said Last time - how could I hear her now when I couldn't before?} Her eyebrows furrowed in thought, an ache for Tara tugging at her heart. {I guess its possible I couldn't hear her because I was… distracted..? But how could she be there? Why /would/ she? Why would she go to see me - I killed someone right in front of her! If I hadn't come to my senses.. I could've killed her too..} At the last realisation, her stomach rolled. {I could have killed her. I was right that she wasn't safe near me - but not because of Kennedy! /I/ was the dangerous one!} "..But we found another victim of the spell.." {How does she know of the spell?} Willow frowned at her own stupidity, {They would have found the book, you fool.} Her frown deepened, {Are they really researching for me..? But I..} Her thoughts trailed off when the voice reached her again. "You need to kill the demon - hit it on the head - /Something/ just come back to us! We can't do anything out here that we know of.. But we're /here/ we're searching for you! So you better fight for us!" Willow heard the voice crack, her own eyes filling with useless tears. {I will!} She promised silently, knowing she couldn't hear it, but needed to promise it - she didn't speak it out loud because she didn't want to wake the demon. {I'll fight for you..} Her thoughts turned to self-loathing again, making more tears, {But why are they fighting for /me/? They should just be glad to have gotten rid of me.. Shouldn't they? Besides.. Buffy will have to kill me either way.. Its her job. I used something mystical to kill someone - more than once. She might have made an exception before.. But now that I've done it again..? It's her destiny to kill the mystical baddies.} "And- and know that you a-arent alone.. I-I'm here.. And I'm not going anywhere." Willow bit her lip to hold back a whimper of guilt and longing. {Oh Tara..}

Tara had fallen asleep after she had gotten back to the hospital and talked to Willow. She knew it was unlikely that she would hear her.. But her body was still functioning.. So her ears would be too, right? That meant there was a slim chance the sounds were transferred to her mind, wherever she was, because it was her self conscious - it was in her mind. Well.. Not purely. It was still happening, but the thing in the.. Demon dimension was just her mind. Even if Willow couldn't hear her.. It gave Tara a bit of comfort to think she could. Because thinking Willow was too far gone to hear her was out of the question. She had to have some sort of hope. Tara was sleeping like she had when Willow was first in the hospital, bent over the edge of the bed, her head resting near the girls chest and holding her hand. Buffy and the gang were working on translating a grounding ritual that Tara prayed would work. Knowing that Willow was in torment was.. Unbearable to think of. The random blood-curdling screams didn't help get her mind off it. When Willow would start screaming, Tara would hold her and hum and whisper soft words in a futile attempt to calm her. She knew it wouldn't work, but if she wasn't trying, she couldn't live with herself - just sitting there while Willow was clearly being tormented. Tara slipped into her dream slowly.
~Tara was surrounded by the most cliche meadow, full of pink and purple flowers, butterflies fluttering around her, in the dress she had worn the day everyone was singing. She frowned for a second, remembering how that day had ended. She bit her lip, shoving the memory away and looking at the meadow. Her frown was replaced by a warm smile, seeing a redhead on a hill in front of her, under a weeping willow tree. Tara noticed that she, also, was wearing the dress she wore that day and wondered if they were going to break into song again. She started up the small hill, watching the girls hair blow gently in the breeze. With an uneasy frown, she noticed the hill seemed to grow and grow as she walked. She wasn't actually getting anywhere. Tara looked behind her, eyes widening in alarm to see the grass and flowers behind her were wilting. She started running, not sure what would happen if it reached her. The top of the hill was still sunny and full of flowers, so she cried out for the girl to help her, but the stunning redhead still didn’t turn. She just stared at the clouds past the tree, even when the wind started blowing her hair and dress harder. Tara screamed when a flash of lightning blinded her, the hill dark when she recovered her vision. The tree was wilted, a crack up its middle and branches holding on by a thread. The wind was tearing through the air roughly now, the calm area had been turned into a cold, foggy wasteland. Taras eyes drifted to the woman on the hill, her breath catching. The hair, once red and glowing, was black and eerie. The dress had been replaced with a leather jacket, leather pants and black boots. The fog was darker around her, but oddly, it didn’t seem out of place. It fit in with her appearance and stance. Tara found that she was finally able to make her way up the hill, fear bubbling her stomach as she pushed her way up. When she was about an inch away from the girl, she paused, raising a hand hesitantly. She hovered it closer to the leather covered shoulder, the breeze seeming to calm while she did. The woman suddenly spun around on her heel, wrapping her hand around Tara’s neck, eyes black and distant, lips curled into a dull frown. Tara, too stunned and terrified to make her voice work, just gasped. The black-eyed girl turned her head to the side, her dark eyes fixing on something. Tara gulped and followed her gaze, feeling nauseous when she saw a pit of bodies. There were lots that she didn’t recognize, but the ones on the top… Buffy, Dawn, Xander, Giles, Anya.. Warren.. And.. Kennedy. The eyes turned back to her, shocking Tara when she saw they were full of tears. But the numb expression didn’t change. Tara froze when a hand reached up to stroke her cheek tenderly, her eyes meeting the dark ones. They exchanged a moment of solemn silence, then the woman blinked slowly, then turned, Throwing her into the pit. This time, while looking at the teary eyed killer, she managed to scream.~
Tara woke up with a scream close to that of her dream self, breathing heavily. While struggling to control her breathing, her eyes caught on the girl in the hospital bed. Were these dreams a sign..? She had more than one in the time she’d been back.. And she had /seen/ Willow kill someone already, and knew she had killed more. Tara’s heart sank at the thought. She knew she had been brought back to save Willow from something… But what if it wasn't Kennedy?
