Tara pulled the car into the driveway, her fear increasing at the police cars and ambulance that were parked outside. A police officer approached the car while her and the others climbed out, his thumbs hooked in the belt loops of his jeans.
"Tara Maclay, I presume?" She nodded, shaking his hand when he offered it. "Your friend is this way, the paramedics just finished checking her vitals, they're getting her on the stretcher." Tara followed closely, gulping upon seeing the shattered windows.
"H-How did you know to call me..?"
"You're her top emergency contact." Tara frowned. She knew the hospital had said she was on the emergency contacts, which already shocked her since she had been dead… but to be the top one? She had assumed Willow would have changed that. {Though, I guess Kennedy wasn't a good emergency contact.. And she wasn't allowed near Buffy or the gang so she just probably never brought it up.} Tara thought solemnly, pausing when they reached the door. The officer glanced back at her sympathetically, but she didn't have to go inside the horrid house since the stretcher came rolling out at that moment. Of course, that didn't do much to calm her either. She rushed to the front of it, her heart pounding. {She looks so.. Dead!} She thought in dismay, eyes locked on the pale redhead.
"Ma'am, either step away or walk with us. We need to get her to the ambulance." Tara nodded weakly, falling into step with them.
"S-Shes alive.. R-Right?"
"Yes. She's unconscious, but alive." A paramedic informed her, shaking their head as they lifted the stretcher into the ambulance. She climbed in after, "It looks like she ran straight from another hospital just to almost die." The paramedic grumbled, pulling the blanket back to examine her bloody shoulder. Tara's heart sank, seeing the ripped piece of cloth that had been tied over it, wincing when she imagined Willow pulling the knife out of her own shoulder. {She was obviously trying to survive.. So this isnt a suicide.} She paused in her thoughts, tears leaking from her eyes when the cloth was taken off to reveal the horrid wound. It was red and bloody, the cut made by the knife obvious from the torn, mutilated skin and flesh. Tara's stomach rolled, remembering seeing Kennedy twist the knife. She shoved the thought away, another one more worrisome at the moment. {If it wasn't a suicide.. Then what happened?}

Buffy watched the ambulance drive away, sighing and turning towards the officer.
"Do you know what happened here?"
"Not sure. Looks like whatever happened, There was a great deal of rage involved." Buffy bit her lip. It couldn't have been Kennedy - she was dead. {But aren't you too?} She shoved the thought away. Not Kennedy. A follower, maybe? "But we did find.. Er.. This." She looked up as the officer handed her a book, Buffy's stomach sinking when she read the cover. {Magic.} "We think Miss Rosenberg might have been reading it when all this happened. I put a post-it-note on the page it was open too. Real weird stuff, if you ask me. Maybe thats why she was targeted for whatever happened here." The officer frowned, narrowing his eyes thoughtfully, "Though, there were no physical marks to indicate an attack." He shrugged, "Hmph. Maybe you superstitious people should do some investigating of your own." Buffy glared at him, hearing the mocking tone. "And we'll stick to facts. Sound good?" She didn't answer and just kept glaring. He laughed, shaking his head and walking off. Buffy turned towards the left over scoobies,
"Hear that?" Xander frowned,
"Research?"
"Research."

The oozing monster finally dropped Willow, causing her to faceplant into the mud. She pushed herself up, spitting out mud with a grimace. The demon that had carried her was grunting something to a larger one in a foreign language, making her senses go on guard. What she guessed was the boss, grunted something back and the smaller one nodded and started to approach her again. She scrambled back as well as she could in the mud, squealing when it picked her up again, holding her arms behind her tightly and shoving her towards the boss. The boss was solid enough to have a facial expression, but the rest of it was slimey like the other.
"Hello, little mortal." It said in a gruff voice, stepping towards her, revealing the opening to a large cave that had an eerie feeling. She gulped, looking back to the demon to plaster on a glare.
"I'm not little and I'm not -" She paused, narrowing her eyes. The demon raised an eyebrow in slight amusement. "- Okay, so I am a mortal unless.. Er - am I dead?" The demon laughed loudly, causing her to frown.
"You aren't dead. Not yet, at least. Your body is 'safe' in your dimension." He paused, "While I have all the control in /this/ dimension, I haven't got the strength to move more than a mortals soul from that dimension, and not without them doing something to allow it." Her eyes narrowed,
"Wait, I didn't-"
"Of course you did. Nobody reads the fine print anymore.. It would be more of a shame had the spell come with a warning in fine print." She gulped,
"..S-Spell..?" His scarred lips turned up into a smirk as he approached slowly, looking her over.
"There's the fun part. I don't even need to use my own magical energy… You idiots do it yourself." Her breathing sped up in fear.
"I-I didn't.. T-The spell said-" She was cut off when he grabbed her chin with solid, yet slimey fingers.
"'T-The spell said'" He mocked, staring into her wide eyes. "If I put a warning label on my spells, do you think many humans would use it? I mean, I'm certain you didn't want to come here when you did it.. It's not fun if you did. No.. I needed unwilling, yet powerful victims.. Powerful in your dimension, at least." She continued to stare at him, her mind racing in disbelief and terror. "You mortals are gifted with power, but you desire to throw it all away to be 'normal' or whatever.. Why did you use the spell, little one?" She swallowed roughly, staying silent. She expected some sort of retaliation to her silence, but not the oozing fingers that pressed into her forehead, a scream torn from her when they broke through without damage, yet causing a splitting pain that got worse when it reached her brain. It's fingers stopped there even though the pain was still in full swing. She wondered if this was what Tara felt when Glory had stolen her sanity. Was that what was happening? He was stealing her mind from her? No. Glory did that because she was trapped in a humans body on earth. Then what was this for?
