Chapter Twelve
Spike knew he needed to come up with a diversion, some way of getting most of the soldierboys out of the complex. So he carefully walked around their frat house spilling a can of gasoline. When he was confident the place was soaked well enough, he lit a match and walked a safe distance away to watch the place start to burn. It didn’t take long before they started to come running.

Riley was having some fun kicking Xander in the ribs when one of the men came in and informed him that their house was on fire. “Shit!” He ran out with them, locking Xander’s door, and leaving only a skeleton crew of men to guard the various daemons they had in the complex.
Xander rolled over, spitting up some blood. Riley had done a real number on him. Slowly he got to his feet. He knew he’d been locked in. He sat down in a chair confident that somehow, Buffy would get him out of this one. Xander had a pretty good idea of where Angelus had taken her, but he hadn’t cracked. He couldn’t wait till Buffy kicked Riley’s ass.

Spike broke into the complex using the same passageway he had escaped from before. There were only two guards in the hallway and he easily took them out using his vampire strength to crack their heads together. Then he went to all the daemon cells and started to free each one to cause an even greater diversion. Now he was ready to find Xander. Spike looked in a few rooms down two corridors, coming up empty. Finally when he turned left, he found the locked room.
Xander looked up as Spike burst into the room. “Batboy to the rescue? Where’s Buffy?”
“Angelus has her at the mansion and he won’t let her go. We have to get her out of there.” Spike didn’t tell Xander about Willow getting vamped. He figured he’d find out soon enough.
Xander stood up and followed Spike down the hallway toward the passageway. Various angry demons were fighting with the few soldiers that were supposed to be guarding the hallways. “Nice handywork,” he said to Spike.
“Just don’t expect me to be rescuing you all the time, that’s Buffy’s job.”
They made it to the passageway and started to climb their way to freedom.
