= Atlantis, Chapter Ten =
Wesley's eyes snapped open as he felt the chains attached to his wrists jerk. The half-nude driver stood at the opening of the carriage, gripping the end of the chain. A pair of solemn eyes watched him as the chain was once again jerked, signifying he should climb out. Wesley briefly considered ignoring the puny man, but knew he wasn't the type to make rash decisions like that. Instead, he crawled out of the carriage and stood next to the man, feeling rather reminiscent of when he was a child and his nanny kept him on a leash.
Wesley took a moment to wipe at his glasses, attempting to clean the dirty lenses so he could see. They were in a small clearing, with tall trees to one side and the mouth of a cave at the other. The full moon hung low in the sky, causing the shadows around them to twist and turn. Wesley fought down a shiver and turned to Ganymede, who stood next to the cave entrance like a golden statue.
"Well, come along!" Ganymede called to him, waving him forward.
Wesley stumbled as the servant, or possibly slave, pulled on his chains. The soft dirt under his feet squished, indicating recent rainfall, before turning into hard rock as they entered the cave. There was what looked like a long corridor, with two torches lit at the end. The lights were a long distance, possibly half a mile. Wesley took a deep breath, forcing his body to calm, before following Ganymede's large frame down the tunnel.
Xander yawned widely, his hands gently pushing at Spike's dead weight on top of him. Spike mumbled something against his head and tightened his arms. Xander let out a small squeak. "Spike. You're squeezing me. Got to breathe."
"Miralseasrpet." Spike stated. Xander let out a small sigh, before giving Spike's shoulder a small kiss and shoving him off. Spike rolled over, eyes closed and oblivious to the world. Xander slowly blinked his eyes open, taking in the dark room. His eyes drifted over to a single candle, held by a dark hand and figure.
"Ack!" Xander yelped, jerking away as the tall, dark figure stepped forward. Xander slipped off the bed, tangling in the sheets and landing on something that made a small 'oof' sound. "Ow."
"Damn, ow is right. Get off me." Gunn grumbled.
"There's someone here." Xander whispered, climbing to his knees and peaking over the bed. The dark figure had stepped closer to the bed, and looked like it was peering down on Spike. Spike smacked his lips slightly and his arms started moving around, as though searching for Xander. "Spike, wake up!"
"Yes, do wake up." The dark figure said. The voice was deep and seemed to echo around the room. Gunn let out a little grunt and sat up, looking over Xander's shoulder.
"Who're you?" Gunn asked.
"I could ask you the same thing, but my daughter's all ready told me. Get up. You'll sleep the evening away and miss dinner." He replied.
"Food?" Spike muttered, sitting straight up. His bleached blonde hair stood on end and his blue eyes were half covered with lowered lids.
"Not for you." Xander informed him, getting to his feet. Spike gave him a confused look, before narrowing his eyes.
"Oi, pet, what did I say about showing your bits to other people?" Spike growled, all signs of sleepiness gone.
"Huh?" Xander looked down, then broke out in a bright blush. He quickly reached down and covered himself with his hands. "I kind of forgot I was naked."
"Oh, gross!" Gunn exclaimed, jumping to his feet and running to the other side of the bed. "You fell on me!"
"I didn't mean to!" Xander defended. He gave a small pout, then watched as Spike crawled across the bed and proceeded to cover him up with one of the large pillows. "I'll get dressed."
"Not until they leave, you won't." Spike replied. "Those are mine!"
"When you so choose to get dressed, come down to the kitchens." The strange man stated, before leaving the room with Gunn trailing after him.
Wesley wasn't sure how to react to what was in front of him. The tunnel had opened up into a wide cavern, with torches lining the walls. At the back of the room was a wide arch, leading somewhere else. From the arch, Wesley could hear the soft sounds of moaning, which reminded him of Xander and Spike in the throes of passion. Thankfully, Wesley could easily shove the noise away and focus on what was going on around him.
There were men everywhere. All were dressed in thin robes, revealing their figures through the material. Wesley forced his eyes not to look downward as muscular men in tiny robes walked past him. The shackles around his wrists tightened as the servant yanked him forward. Wesley carefully stepped through the throngs of men, avoiding eye contact and trying not to identify what some of the couples were doing. They entered the arching doorway in the back, following a short corridor until there was another large room.
Wesley came to a halt the moment he stepped foot inside. Ganymede bumped into him from behind, before slipping past him and walking to the lone bed. The bed was decorated with purple and gold silk. It had sheer curtains, allowing Wesley the view of the two men writhing on the covers. Wesley blinked and managed to look away. The rest of the room was rather drab, except for an oak table in the corner holding various items and a large, brass bar hanging from the stone ceiling. The bar had a few hangers on it, containing the see through robes similar to the men in the other room, and a pair of handcuffs swinging from side to side like some beacon.
Wesley forced his eyes away from that as well.
"Fabulous." A slurred voice said. Wesley looked back toward the bed, where a man, who was muscular and compact, was standing in all his naked glory. He was shorter than Ganymede, but radiated a sort of power that was greater than anything else in the room. Wesley spared a glance over his shoulder to see a skinny young man passed out with his legs spread wide.
"I beg your pardon, but-" Wesley started.
"Mmm, he still talks." The man said. Wesley could recognize a sensual voice when it was being shoved in his face, and this was no exception. A pair of golden brown eyes drifted up and down him, making Wesley feel violated. "Excellent, Ganymede. He is a perfect specimen."
"I thought so." Ganymede smirked. "I saw him standing outside our south-city spot. I knew you would want him for yourself."
"Tall. Lean." The small man sauntered forward, his tanned, sweat slicked skin glimmering in the light. Wesley avoided looking downward on this man as well, knowing his would see a proud erection swinging from side to side with every step. "Oh, yes, there is strength. He's fought, this one has. And those things about his eyes... What do you suppose they are?"
"These are eye glasses-" Wesley attempted to answer.
"It's strange, Ganymede, how they assume their voice is worth the effort." The man developed a cruel grin before stepping up to Wesley's side. "You're words mean nothing here, my sweet darling. Your job is to moan and gasp under me when required." The man took a step back. "Yes, I won't be using this one to experiment on. This one is much too nice to waste on drugs and wine. Ganymede?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Dress him in green." The man ordered, before walking back to his bed. Just before slipping behind the curtain, the man looked Wesley up and down once more and gave a small grunt.
Wesley could only watch as he pulled the sleeping young man toward him and entered him with one stroke. Wesley's throat suddenly felt dry. Blinking, Wesley looked down at the floor, focusing on his bare and dirty feet. There was no possible way he had gotton himself into this kind of a mess. Wesley was close to believing it. So close to thinking he wasn't in that room. But then a loud moan drifted from the bed and Wesley was crashing back to reality.
And reality was, he was in deep shit.
"Oh, Mother of Zeus!" Xander exclaimed, stuffing more food into his mouth. "This is so good. Spike, isn't this good?"
"Yes, Xander. It's good." Spike said in a tired tone, which indicated that Xander had asked that repeatedly.
"I'm glad you enjoy our cooking." Dedi giggled from across the table.
"Yes, it is nice to see such healthy eaters in the house for once." Her father, whom they had learned was named Iuput, said with a wide grin. Dedi's father was a large, dark skinned man with the same Egyptian accent as Dedi's. Iuput turned to Dedi with a teasing grin. "Some of us are turning into sand."
"Papa!" Dedi said, glaring.
"My daughter, wasting away to nothing!" Iuput continued, chuckling when Dedi slapped him on the shoulder. Iuput turned back to Xander. "Tell me, Alexander, where did you learn such good skills? The cabinets look wonderful."
"Really?" Xander grinned. "Well, I've always been interested in that sort of thing and I've gotten a lot of practice fixing things around the house. A lot of stuff breaks around there."
"All because of that bloody bastard father of yours." Spike growled, glaring at his plate. He poked the piece of meat with a knife. "Always breaking things and making you fix 'em."
"Well, it's good practice." Xander replied.
"None the less, it's marvelous work." Iuput commented. "You could open your own shop. I'm sure it would be welcomed in Atlantis."
"We don't plan on staying that long." Gunn said.
"Yes, remember I told you?" Dedi asked. "They need help getting out of the city and were hoping they could work for some money in order to get new clothes. You have noticed their clothes, right?"
"Yes." Iuput replied. "I assumed you were from an outside land. When me and my children first came to Atlantis we stood out greatly. What is it you seek outside of Atlantis?"
"We lost a couple of our party members." Gunn informed him. "One was taken into the woods."
"Well, then, take Dedi with you." Iuput offered.
"What? Papa!" Dedi's eyes widened.
"No one knows the woodlands outside this city better than my little girl. She used to play there as a child, before her help was needed here." Iuput stated. "All I ask is that you protect her, and she will help you find your friends."
"Papa, I don't appreciate you volunteering me like this." Dedi said in a low voice.
"You need out more. I can run the inn while you are gone." Iuput said softly. "You are young. Please, go and live a life? I don't want to see you waste away in here."
"Fine." Dedi snapped, standing and stomping out of the kitchen.
"Are you sure that was a good idea?" Xander asked.
"She will be fine. She needs freedom." Was all Iuput would say. The table became quiet, interrupted only by Xander and Spike's random banter about pork.
