Buffy the Monomaniac
Willow was worried about Buffybot. It had been two months since Buffy died and the robot wasn't making a very good replacement. It kept spouting more and more non sequiturs during patrols.
Willow thought rumors might start that something was wrong with Buffy. They couldn't afford such rumors.
At first, the robot worked very well. It was a luxury, a treasure that they were lucky to have.
Spike wasn't keen on letting it go but he agreed it was necessary to help keep things in order. Without her, there would be chaos.
Willow tried tinkering with the software but she couldn't fix the problem. She couldn't know it was a small short in the hardware. The robot had been taking a lot of abuse. Something was bound to give. Willow was a powerful witch and she was great with software, but she wasn't good with hardware.
Out of desperation, she starting using television to help make the bot's personality more realistic. She hoped it could learn some catchy dialog to replace the non sequiturs.
Tonight they were watching Xena: Warrior Princess. Willow knew it probably wouldn't help Buffybot much but she liked to snuggle on the couch with Tara.
Xena was one of their favorite shows. Besides, maybe the robot could learn some martial arts moves.
Willow and Tara were at one end of the couch and Buffybot was at the other, sitting up straight with its camera eyes fixed on the television set.
"That move can't work. No one can jump like that." Buffybot was being very critical but Willow and Tara were too involved to notice.
"That one might work. Not. That is so lame."
The three continued to watch until a particular scene started that held Buffybot spellbound. Xena was being crucified on a beach and after the bad guys hoisted her up on the cross, they broke her legs.
At this point, Buffybot let out a perfect imitation of a Xena war cry, startling the two lovebirds.
"Willow, what are they doing to Xena?" Buffybot had her head cocked to one side but still kept her eyes fixed on the TV as she talked.
Willow quickly fumbled with the remote and turned the set off. Buffybot still stared at the blank screen.
"Willow, what were they doing to Xena?"
Willow ignored the robot. She was lost in thought. Things were getting out of control. She didn't like it when things got out of control. Major anxiety was getting the better of her when Tara snapped her out of it by stating the obvious.
"Wil, I don't think it was a good idea to have her watch Xena with us."
"Well I had to do something. We can't let her keep saying things like 'I don't like cold spinach' during a fight. People will talk."
"I know..." Tara trailed off, unsure of what to say next. She wasn't great with words. She was more of a tactile person.
Buffybot continued to question Willow but was still being ignored. Tara finally answered simply that crucifixions were done to punish evil. That seemed to satisfy the curious robot. Now it could concentrate on something else.
Buffybot watched Willow pace back and forth in the living room. It could recognize distress. The Xena episode must have really upset Willow, it decided. It made a note to never mention crucifixions again, at least not around Willow and the rest of the group.
After several seconds of processing, it selected the optimum response. "I'm Okay Willow. I won't say anything about cold spinach. I want to go on patrol now. I want to kick some vampire ass - for real, not like Xena. That show isn't real."
Willow couldn't help but smile at the irony. Then something else occurred to her. Something about the robot seemed different. Maybe there was still a chance things could work, at least until she was ready for her backup plan - the plan to resurrect Buffy.
*****
Buffybot was in Buffy's room, getting ready for patrol. The last few nights had been great. The robot efficiently destroyed four vampires without uttering anything strange. In fact, it didn't say much at all any more. Willow and the gang starting giving it a longer leash, allowing it to patrol alone for long periods of time. It was like when Buffy was very focused and very pissed.
Rumors were now spreading that Buffy was on a mission - a slaying spree. The more intelligent vampires and demons were keeping a low profile. The robot was on a mission, but it had nothing to do with being pissed.
Buffybot filled a small bag with the usual assortment of wooden stakes and this time some new items were added. It then opened the bedroom window and lowered the bag down to the bushes.
Willow and Xander were downstairs waiting. They wanted to do their nightly check up of the bot before sending it out.
"Buffy! Hurry up! It's getting late."
"Jeez Willow," said Xander. "You treat it as if it was the real thing."
"Sometimes, when I look at it, I forget it's not her. It looks so real. I want it to be her. I miss Buffy so much."
"I know Wil. It's hard for all of us." Xander hugged her. Hugging always helped.
Buffybot appeared at the top of the stairs. "Look out you two. It's time to kick some vampire ass."
It always started patrol by saying something like that. Then it said almost nothing for the rest of the night.
The two humans checked the robot and sent it out into the night. It snuck around back to pick up the bag and then resumed its mission.
During the last couple patrols, when it had some time alone, it scoped out the area. It needed a place where it could practice its true calling - someplace where there was little chance for interruption.
A large cavern was found that was perfect for the job. The robot dug a hole and prepared the other materials that it had accumulated. Everything was finally ready.
**********
The vampire saw the Slayer and took off running but it was too late.
She spotted him and gave chase. She caught him by his jacket and pulled him backwards, slamming him into the ground. He knew it was over and waited for the end to come. But then she did a strange thing. Instead of staking him, she pulled out a crowbar and hit him alongside the head, knocking him unconscious.
Buffybot picked him up and carried him over her shoulder back towards the special cavern, humming the theme from Xena: Warrior Princess the whole way.
The vampire was dumped on the ground, next to a large, wooden cross. The cross was crude, fashioned from two large 4-by-4's in the shape of a T. The robot dragged the vampire over on top of it and pulled out several short coils of nylon rope from the bag. The vampire's arms were spread out and tied to the top part of the cross and his legs were tied together to the lower section. Buffybot then slapped the vampire awake and proceded to finish the job.
To the vamp's horror, the Slayer pulled out a small, three-pound sledge hammer and three metal stakes. "What are you gonna do with that?" For the first time in his short existence, the vampire was scared.
"Evil must be punished," she answered. Then she held a stake over his left hand and pounded it through into the wood.
Blood from the vampire's last feed gushed from the large wound. He howled in pain and the Slayer responded with, "Evil must be punished."
She hammered a stake into his other hand and then the last one went through both feet. Everytime the vampire said anything or made any sound, she would say the same phrase, "Evil must be punished." When she was finished with the metal stakes, she untied all the ropes that had bound the vampire and lifted the cross, guiding the bottom end into the hole she had dug until the whole thing stood upright. There was only one more thing to do to finish her first crucifixion.
She picked up the crowbar and walked over to the vampire. He thought only one thing before she broke his legs - She must be crazy. Then there was only dull, throbbing pain until she pulled a wooden stake out of her bag and destroyed him.
"Well, that went rather well," the robot decided.
*****
The solo patrols continued a few nights a week, and everytime it could catch a victim, the crazed robot set up its equipment in the cavern and performed another crucifixion.
It wasn't long before some vampires discovered its obsession. Three vampires were roaming together when the Slayer appeared out of nowhere. She grabbed one and knocked her out immediately.
The other two ran but stopped short when they didn't hear any pursuit. They looked back and saw her pick up their companion and carry her away. They followed at a discreet distance back to the cavern and watched with fascination as the Slayer performed her first female crucifixion. They knew it was her first because she said so. She said that and "Evil must be punished." That was all.
That was enough for them. They ran all the way to their usual haunt - a demon bar on the outskirts of town. They figured the gang would want to hear this.
*****
"I tell you she's crazy!" One of the witnesses said. "She crucified Angie. It was horrible!"
"Yeah. And Angie ain't da only one she done neither," said the other witness. "We heard her say so. I bet she done a lot."
"Get a grip," said a grizzled old veteran. The old vamp had escaped from the Slayer several times - so he said. He was over a hundred years old and very wise. All of the other vampires looked up to him. Nothing seemed to bother him. He wore an old leather jacket and always played the tough guy.
"It sounds like the Slayer has herself a little case of monomania. That's good news for us. Her new hobby won't last. It can't. The whitecoats will find out and put an end to it. Just stay out of her way the best ya can. Slayers are a dime a dozen. Nothin' lasts forever 'cept us."

Faith had kept on the move for the past several months but now she found herself back in Sunnydale, looking for atonement. With all of the travel, there hadn't been many opportunities for slaying. It left quite a void in her life - one she filled with a lot of soul searching.
She never meant to turn evil. Yeah, she had a bad girl streak. But it was relatively harmless until she carelessly killed a human by mistake. That event led her down a dark path.
The days with the Mayor were challenging and fun in a way. She kept her edge much more around him than with Buffy's gang. She felt herself growing soft until she joined up with the dark forces. Now she saw the error of her ways. The Mayor ruled by fear and intimidation. He masked it with humor but no one dared oppose an invulnerable man who was soon to be a giant demon worm.
Faith thought she wanted to be on the winning side. How ironic. But what use is being on the winning side without love. She got a small taste of really belonging when she'd switched bodies with Buffy. She desperately wanted to belong again.
*****
Faith settled in an old warehouse. She was used to shoddy living. It would have to do until she could find a way back into Buffy's life.
She spent the early part of her days scrounging for - and stealing - food and supplies, and slept during the latter part of the day. Nights were spent on patrol.
It felt good to be back. She missed the hunt. She almost forgot what it was like to have such a large supply of vampires to slay.
After several days, Faith surprised herself by feeling totally at peace. Knowing that she was doing a good thing now made her proud. She wanted to do good.
Tonight had been very productive. She had staked three vampires. She decided to reward herself by taking a break. She sat on a fence and spent the last hour of the night waiting for the sun.
Dawn broke over the steeple of the local Catholic church and the Slayer found herself drawn to it. She wasn't religious but she couldn't seem to help herself.
During her wandering, she had visited many different churches. Catholic ones were the best. They usually had a large statue of Christ-on-a- stick - as she put it - hanging over the altar. She could stare at it for hours.
**********
Faith fell into a comfortable routine. Around noon, she grabbed some food and either read an old newspaper or listened to a little radio she had "found". Later on, she'd sleep and then wake up for patrol. And when sunrise came, she spent the morning at the church, sitting in the back, staring at the crucifixion statue.
She had been in town for over a week now. It was only a matter of time before she ran into Buffy on patrol.
Faith had staked a young female vampire just after sunset and turned to see Buffy, staring at her. "Oh! B. You startled me. Hey. It's been awhile." Faith tried to play it cool. She still found it hard to express her true feelings.
Buffy didn't say anything. She just continued to stare.
Faith was getting uncomfortable with the silence. "Hey B. Remember me? Faith?" She tried to break up the awkward moment with humor.
"Do I know you?" Buffy finally responded.
Faith mistaked her honest query for sarcasm. She had no clue that Buffy was a robot. "Hey, funny girl," Faith flashed her best smile. "I was hoping to, you know, come back. It gets a little lonely out there ya know. Can we talk? There's a little church nearby that I like to visit. Yeah, I know. I'm not religious but I'm really trying to turn my life around. Ya know?"
Faith had already started walking towards the church and Buffybot followed her. The robot was having trouble handling the situation so it didn't say much. It just followed the young woman who had destroyed its latest victim.
They sat in the back pew and talked. Or at least Faith did. She never set foot in a confessional but now she found herself confessing everything to Buffy. The tears came and she couldn't stop them. She didn't want to stop them. "So that's the scoop B," said the repentant Slayer with a sniff. "I know I'm evil but I can change. Honest I can." Then she covered her face with her hands and cried some more.
Buffybot wasn't trying to understand anything that Faith said. It was recording her for later playback, if necessary. Instead, it was trying to figure out what to do about a new victim. But when Faith mentioned being evil, the robot finally took notice. It slowly and quietly pulled out its crowbar, took a big swing and hit her on the side of the neck, knocking her out. Then it picked her up and slung her over its right shoulder.
That's when it saw the crucifixion statue over the altar. The robot was transfixed. It was perfect. The crucified man wore nothing except what looked like underwear and a crown of thorns. Buffybot recorded the image and took off in search of thorns.
*****
Buffybot couldn't find thorns but a coil of barbed wire seemed to make a suitable alternative. The bot placed it on Faith's head. Everything else was ready.
"There. Perfect. Now all I have to do is wake her up."
Buffybot slapped the Slayer awake and prepared for the hammering.
Faith awoke flat on her back with her arms spread out to the sides. Her neck was killing her and several sharp pains circled her head. She tried to touch her forehead but she couldn't move her arms. They were tied to something. She couldn't move her legs either. She felt cold so she looked down at herself. She was topless - wearing nothing but panties. That was strange, she thought. She never wore panties.
"Okay B. Very funny. Now let me go. You know the police can't hold me. C'mon B. I don't wanna hurt anyone." Faith was getting angry, and just a little concerned. This wasn't like Buffy.
Concern turned to outright fear when she saw Buffy come at her with metal stakes and a hammer. "What the Hell?"
That was all she got out before Buffy started hammering her hands and feet to the wooden cross.
Anger and fear fought for dominance but anger won. She was a Slayer, damnit. She's been through worse than this. She didn't know what was going on but she wasn't going to give Buffy the satisfaction of a scream.
Her breath came in ragged pants as Buffy cut the ropes from her arms and legs and lifted the cross into position. She almost fainted when the crazy Slayer swung the crowbar and broke her legs. The pain was intense but it helped her focus on a new sensation: arousal.
She was getting incredibly turned on by all of this. Her nipples were stiff and swollen, as much from arousal as from the cold. She couldn't believe it. I must be really fucked up, she thought.
Buffybot stood back and surveyed her work. There was something missing - words. Faith wasn't saying anything. She should be talking. The silence didn't compute. The robot couldn't say the phrase. It had to say the phrase to make the job complete.
It watched and waited for Faith to say something, anything. Faith wasn't about to talk. She was lost in a fantasy. Her hips bucked and rubbed against the cross and she slowly rocked her head from side-to-side.
The robot eventually noticed Faith's nipples. It had never seen an aroused female before and didn't know what it was seeing. It had to have more information.
The bot walked up to the cross and reached up to gently touch and rub a nipple. Faith let out a low moan and Buffybot immediately said, "Evil must be punished."
Faith then responded with more moaning and the robot continued to say its phrase. The phrase added to Faith's fantasy. She was finally being punished for her evil deeds and it made her hot.
Faith started whispering to direct Buffy. Both nipples were tweaked and rubbed and pinched until her body shuddered with ecstasy. She noted with great pleasure that Buffy noticed her cum-soaked panties and was pulling them down. "Oh yeah, B. Please. Touch me there."
Buffybot knew what urine looked like. This wasn't urine.
The bot inserted two fingers into Faith's vagina and pulled them out again.
The aroused Slayer let out a loud moan to which the robot replied with its phrase. Then it rubbed its fingers together and queried itself. It decided that the fluid was lubrication. Willow used oil on the robot to lubricate it on the inside. Humans must need lubrication too.
The unwitting robot stuck its hand back in and rubbed in out out.
Faith panted and moaned, allowing Buffybot to repeat her phrase. It reinforced the robot's rubbing. As long as Buffybot helped lubricate this woman, she would continue to prompt the phrase.
By now, it didn't matter how fast or slow Buffy was with her hands. Any touch in the general area was enough for Faith. Her whole body rocked and thumped against the cross and finally shuddered with wave after wave of orgasmic ecstasy. She screamed in pain and pleasure and the robot continued saying its phrase.
*****
Willow and Xander found the cavern two days later. They had come looking for Buffybot and got a nasty surprise.
The robot was standing in front of a cross, slowly repeating the same thing, over and over: "Evil must be punished."
The worst part was the woman who was crucified. Her head was bent forward so they couldn't see her face at first. Dried blood covered her hands and feet and trickles of dried blood ran down her body.
Willow walked up to the robot to try to look for damage. She couldn't bring herself to look at the woman.
Xander walked up beside Willow and stared up at the victim's face. She had the sweetest smile on her face. To Xander, it almost seemed angelic, like she was purified somehow.
After he shook himself free from a little male fantasy, the woman's face finally registered. "Oh my God, Wil. It's Faith!"
Willow looked up and the two stared up at the crucified Slayer. Now there would be a new Slayer in the world.
