Rating: R Paring: Willow and Buffy and Dawn and Faith Chapter 1 Tara’s Return The bus ride was long and hot, this was her last layover before she arrived in Sunnydale. She had four-hours to kill, so Tara thought she should call Buffy and tell her that she would be late. Looking around the bus station for the pay phones, Tara started to notice something wasn’t right the hair on the back of her neck stood. Where were all the people? There had been three full buses came in at the same time as hers. There should have been people running around looking for loved ones, checking bus schedules, and finding luggage. Tara found the pay phones she called Buffy’s and she wanted Angel’s number as well. She knew that there was trouble afoot. The phone rang three times and Tara was about to hang up when someone answered, “Yeah…I mean hello?” Faith barked into the phone. “I’m sorry; I was looking for Buffy Summers. I-I must have the wrong number.” “No you have the right number. B is out on part…I mean out, but Dawn is here. Want to talk to her?” Faith caught herself before she told the woman where Buffy really was. “Oh yes, I would like to talk to Dawnie,” “Right, hold on.” Faith turned from the phone and yelled for her. “Dawn, some chick is on the phone.” “Who is it?” “Yeah, right…who are you?” “Tara MaClay,” “Tara…here I have to go catch up with B and Red.” Faith handed the phone to Dawn. “Tara! Where are you?” Dawn almost yelled into the phone. Faith was almost out the door, when felt the tiniest twinge of jealousy at the joy in Dawn’s voice. She stopped, turned, and listened. “I’m in L.A. I have a four-hour layover,” “So where are you going from there?” “Dawn, I’m on my way back to Sunnydale. Didn’t Xander tell you all that I was coming home?” She felt a slight pinch of fear and sadness that they didn’t know. “No, I haven’t talked to him in weeks. I’ve been really busy with Fai…school. I’m getting an F in math so I have a lot to work on,” she lied. Faith was listening to the one side of the conversation and was starting to get mad. Dawn was lying about their newfound friendship. She didn’t think Dawn would come right out and say she had feelings for her, but on the other hand, she didn’t think Dawn was ashamed of them. “Well, when I get back I can help you with that if you’d like me too.” Tara knew that Dawn wasn’t telling the truth about something but decided to play along with her. “Oh Tara that would be great. Faith has been helping but she said that some math should be left in book and not taught.” “Well Dawnie, There is something wrong here I can’t pin point it but I think I need Angel’s help. Plus Xander told me that if I had to spend any time in L.A. it would be safer to have Angel around,” “Okay, Xander said that? I’ll call Angel. I have to talk to him anyway. I’m going to be in L.A. next month. Faith is going with me, and she wants to see him too. Not that she would admit it though.” Dawn smiled as she told Tara about her plans. Her smile widened at the thought of spending time alone with Faith. “Okay dear, we should cut this short then. You’ll tell Angel that I’m at the bus station then? Tell him I think it’s a vampire thing going on here.” “Sure no problem…Tara I miss you!” Then Dawn hung the phone back on the wall. “I miss you too.” Tara then looked around for more people. ‘Okay Dawnie what are you hiding?’ she asked her self-aloud. Faith walked into the kitchen and leaned against the wall. “So I’m helping you with math?” Faith cocked an eyebrow. “Do you realize I dropped out of school before I even hit the tenth grade?” She looked Dawn up and down with true lust in her eyes. “I have to call Angel…oh, I’m sorry Faith I didn’t think!” She looked at Faith in a very lustful way. “So can we pick this up later?” she asked. “Oh Dawn, you know this will keep.” Faith pointed in between her and Dawn. Then she walked out of the kitchen. “Fuck…okay call Angel now Tara is in trouble!” Dawn followed Faith with her eyes as she turned and walked out. “It will keep, but not for long.” Dawn picked up the phone and dialed the number to the vampire in L.A. “Angel Invest…Oh hi Dawn what’s up?” “Hey Cordy. Look is Angel in?” “Yeah sure, is everything okay?” Cordy turned to look into Angel’s office and found him sitting at his desk. “Oh sure, you know, just Hellmouth stuff but everything is cool,” she told the other girl. “Buffy and Will are on patrol and I’m here with Faith!” She smiled when she said the dark slayer’s name. “Okay well I’ll get him for you, hold on.” Putting the phone down on the desk Cordy called to the vampire. “Angel, Dawn is on line one…not that we have any other lines,” she said sarcastically. “Dawn how are you?” Angel asked, happy to hear from her. “I’m good but Tara is at the bus station in L.A. and she’s alone she thinks there is a vamp problem there. Do you think you could go get her? She has a four-hour layover I would feel better if she were with you. Then I need to talk to you about next month. We’re still on right?” “Of course we’re still on! I’m looking forward to having you and Faith here. Don’t worry about Tara, I’ll go get her right now…” he was cut off. “Angel, you go get Tara and I’ll get things settled with Dawn, okay?” Cordy chimed in, letting them know she was still on the phone. “Okay well, I’ll see you soon Dawn. Tell Faith “Hi” for me, okay?” With that, he was off the phone and half way out the front door. “So you and Faith are going to be in L.A.? Why again?” Cordy asked. “I’m looking into schools. Buffy and Willow can’t get the time off. I thought Faith would have fun, and Buffy would still be here to cover patrol,” she said, filling the young woman in on her plans. “Sounds like you have thought of everything…except for one important detail, Faith.” “What about Faith?” Dawn asked, a little upset that Cordelia would have anything against the slayer. “Oh Dawn, what I meant was Faith will need to do her slayer thing. And if she is cooped up for to long…well, she tends to get herself into trouble.” Cordy told the teen, not wanting her to get the wrong idea. “Oh, I’m sure I could keep her out of trouble. Besides, you have a lot of things there she could do, right?” Dawn asked, realizing she almost outed them. “We’ll talk more about this later, Dawn. Someone just walked in, so I have to go.” She said her good-byes and hung the phone up. Dawn walked into the living room, finding Faith stretched out on the couch. Dawn’s eyes traveled over her girlfriend’s body. She wet her lips, aching for Faith’s touch. She moved slowly to stand over the brunette. “Is there…something I can do to you?” Faith asked with a lust-filled voice. Dawn didn’t answer with words as she leaned down and kissed Faith on her full lips. Her hand went right to Faith’s shoulder as she straddled her hips. Their kiss deepened as Dawn opened her mouth, asking the dark girl to deepen the kiss even more. As Faith slipped, her tongue into Dawn’s awaiting mouth, the teen moaned and rocked against the slayer’s center. Faith’s hands slid up Dawn’s back and brought her closer to her own body. She arched her back, bringing her hips up, pressing into the teen on top of her. Dawn moaned a little louder as sparks of desire washed over her. “Faith I want you,” Dawn panted. Faith was about to tell Dawn how much she wanted her when she heard Buffy’s voice. The two women were on the front porch and about to come in the front door. “Dawn, get up! Buffy and Willow are home!” she said as she pushed the teen off her. She sat up and took Dawn’s hand. “We’ll have our time, but we can’t get caught now!” She leaned over and placed a small kiss on Dawn’s cheek, pulling back just as Buffy and Willow walked into the house. “So what’s up?” Willow asked as she entered the living room. “We’re just watching a movie.” Dawn said, her eyes never leaving Faith. Buffy glanced at the black TV screen and raised an eyebrow. She then looked at Faith and her sister. A frown creased her forehead as she watched her sister murmur softly to Faith. “Oh, so I guess it’s over. Well I’m going to get something to eat; coming Will?” Buffy pulled her girlfriend with her into the kitchen. “We were watching a movie…Dawn, the TV is off.” Faith pulled the teen closer to her. “Oh well, I don’t think Blondie will notice much, but Red will,” Faith said as she stroked Dawn’s hair. Back in the kitchen, Buffy leaned against the island with her head down. “Willow I don’t like this. Faith is getting too close to Dawn and we both know how she can be.” She looked up slowly at Willow, a hint of worry deep in her eyes. Willow sighed and stepped closer to Buffy, taking her hand in hers. “Buff, look Dawn is almost seventeen and Faith isn’t much older than her…” Buffy pulled her hand back, eyes flashing as anger colored her cheeks. “I don’t care about the age! Hell, Faith could be the same age and I wouldn’t want my sister dating her!” Buffy snapped her eyes locked with her girlfriend’s. Willow was a little taken back by Buffy’s statement. It wasn’t too long ago when Buffy herself felt Faith could be the one. “Buffy I just have to ask, and I know it’s going to start a fight, but I need to know.” The hacker shifted from one foot to the other as she spoke. “Willow, you know you can ask me anything,” Buffy said with a tremor in her voice. “Well…why is it okay for you to like Faith but not okay for Dawn? I mean that when Faith first came to Sunnydale, you were all with the wanting a happy from her. Now that Dawn is interested, you don’t want her to date Faith.” Willow quickly mumbled with pain in her voice. Buffy pushed away from the island and walked to the back door. Her arms crossed, she looked over her shoulder at the slim redhead. “You really think I wanted a happy from Faith? You are so off base here Willow. I don’t need this from you, not now.” Buffy turned to face Willow as the Wicca paled. Buffy felt a moment’s regret and took a step toward Willow, ready to take her in her arms and apologize. She was stunned by her lover’s next words. “Buffy I was there, remember? You and Faith were hooked at the hip and don’t tell me it was a slayer thing. You were both putting off a serious happy vibe. And now you’re denying the same chance at joy for Dawn!” Willow yelled at the blonde. “Willow, it’s obvious that you saw it all wrong so…go to hell!” Buffy yelled and ran out of the house, slamming the back door behind her hard enough to crack the glass in the window. “You want me to go to hell? I LIVE IN HELL!” She yelled at the back door knowing that Buffy could still hear her. Willow walked into the living room and saw the two girls looking at their feet. Dawn looked up with a wan smile. “Faith has cuter feet than me. It’s not fair; she gets the super powers and cuter feet?” Dawn looked down again, sighing softly. Willow sighed with her. She knew they heard the argument. “Faith, will you go after Buffy before she does something stupid?” Faith bent over grabbing her shoes and running to the front door. As she opened the door, she turned back to the two women. “I’ll get B, but when we get back we all need to talk. We have too much to deal with to have this come in between us!” Then she ran out of the house falling over herself as she put her shoes on. “Okay, when did Faith get so smart?” Willow looked at Dawn who was now crying in spite of herself. “Oh, Dawnie, please, don’t cry.” Willow took Faith’s seat on the couch next to Dawn, and hugged her close. “Buffy is wrong here. This is your life, your decision. If you want to be with Faith, then don’t let Miss Grumpy Butt get in your way.” Dawn sniffled into her hands for a minute more, and then looked up. “I’m not crying because she doesn’t approve of us. I’m crying because I could lose Faith. I don’t care what Buffy thinks, or you for that matter. I just want Faith and if you two want to make us your tenth fight of the day then so be it, but I won’t lose her because you don’t like it” Faith walked all over downtown looking for the blonde slayer when she spotted her at the Espresso Pump. She looked around to see if anyone was in listening distance. “B” she called to her. Buffy started, glancing up from her cup of double mocha. “Look I don’t need you trying to butt in with Willow and my problems…” Faith interrupted. “I wouldn’t, but it’s my problem too. She brought me into it when she brought up our little fling…and how the hell did she know about it anyway?” Faith yelled at her sister slayer. Buffy’s face went slack with surprise that her feelings and what they had would be referred to as a “fling”. Then she got angry. “Well, first off, there wasn’t a fling, I had true feelings for you, and secondly, I never told her. She saw it like everyone else. You never could hide the fact that you wanted me.” She yelled back, stepping out onto the sidewalk, taking a few steps toward Faith before stopping. Faith calmed her voice and walked towards Buffy. “No, B it wasn’t me not hiding…you wear your heart on your sleeve and well it doesn’t take a brain scientist. I guess that’s how Xander found out.” While she spoke, Faith moved even closer to Buffy. Buffy backed away from the taller brunette. “I never told Xander…what do you mean, he knew?” Buffy started to shift from one foot to the other, looking around for a way to escape. Then her eyes darted back to Faith with a look of understanding. “He didn’t know…you are such a shit, Faith. Okay so now what, oh young wise one?” she sneered. Faith grinned, stepping closer. “We need to get back to the house and talk this through; we can’t let our past get in the way of our future.” Faith took Buffy’s hand and turned towards the house. Buffy tightened the grip for a moment, and then stopped Faith from continuing on to the house. “Look at who’s talking about letting the past go. You can’t get over whatever happened; it’s always a poor me thing.” Faith turned face to face with Buffy. Her temper was starting to get the best of her. Faith snapped, “Okay, but if I had a past like yours then I wouldn’t need the poor me, so what’s your deal? I mean you had the mom, the dad and the princess castle. So why are you big with the poor me?” “Faith don’t question what you don’t understand, you’ll never know how it is to be me. And thank the gods that I’ll never know your past! Now we should get home. Willow and Dawn will be worrying!” She pulled her hand away from Faith and walked in the direction of the house. “Oh, so that’s it? I shouldn’t be affected by my past? You just tell me basically to get over it and walk away? Well, I don’t work that way. Tell me, right now, what the hell is wrong with me, that I’m such a bad person that you won’t even consider that Dawn and I would be good together.” Faith flipped her hair over her shoulder and scoffed. “You don’t even know, do you? It’s just that I’m happy and you’re not, right? I wasn’t good enough for you in your mind, so you think that your sister will be just as disappointed with me. Well, I got news for you, sis. Dawn has made me happier than I have been in years. Happier than I was considering being with you, happier than I was when Angel was helping me through my problems, and a HELL of a lot happier than I was in Boston! And I’m pretty damn sure that I’ve made her happy too.” Buffy stared during the tirade. “Happy. Ha, ha. You know, I’m really not happy now. But I know what will make me happy.” “Oh yeah, B, what’s that?” Buffy didn’t answer Faith’s taunting tone with anything but her fist, landing a surprise right hook to the dark slayer’s jaw. “This,” Buffy purred down at Faith, lying on the concrete with a stunned look on her face. “Seeing you beaten like the bitch that you are.” Faith jumped to her feet. “Wrong move, B. I’ve been frustrated lately; I need to get some whoop-ass out of my system too.” With that, the slayers faced off, slowly circling in the deserted evening street. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
