Present Day, Christmas Eve, December 24th, 6:00PM
"Merry Christmas Spike and Xander! Congratulations on your Engagement! And Happy Anniversary too!"
Giles had been silent all the way over to Buffy's. He had asked Spike and Xander to "just play along...bloody silly females and their games." Shrugging good naturedly, both young men had allowed the older man to tie on the soft blindfolds. He had helped them each into the backseat, careful not to bump their heads. After buckling them in, he'd gotten inside himself, buckled up and continued driving. After parking the car, he'd helped them both out, and had walked them up the walk. Spike knew immediately where they were. (Could be cause he'd helped to plan this little surprise as well?) Well, duh! Giles knocked on the door, and they all were ushered inside.
As the red velvet blindfolds were taken off of them, Spike and Xander looked blinkingly into the happy shining eyes of their dear friends and family. Giles, Willow, Anya, Buffy and Dawn. Now, while Thanksgiving had been wonderful... Buffy had totally out done herself in the food department, and both men were looking forward to a repeat of it. It only took the men a few moments to realize; this time it was Christmas dinner.
And, if the delicious aromas of baked honey ham, and hot turkey, freshly made homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, hot buttered rolls, green bean casserole, and pies of many kinds, (cherry, pumpkin, apple, pecan and, oh, goodness! A red velvet cake too! Yum!) were any indication, well, bring it on baby! OOH YEAH!
Spike and Xander both took huge whiffs of the aromatic air... their mouths watering. The living room at Buffy's house was a replica of a Winter's Wonderland. On the large tan oak coffee table, sat a huge gingerbread house, it's tiny windows and door and roof, covered in many colorful candies, all shapes and sizes, and the 'snow' on it was a bright white frosting.
The large bay window had been frosted with canned snow... stencils of Santa, and Frosty, and large snowflakes dotted it's frosty pane. Along the edges, large ropes of mauve, and cream, and royal blue garlands were hung and draped. Sprigs of fresh mistletoe were hung in various and sundry places.
The Evergreen Christmas tree was amazing! It stood roughly 8and 1/2 feet high, it's very full body covered in a pretty pattern of mauve and royal blue and cream-colored glass ball ornaments. The tiny multi-colored lights twinkling merrily to a tune, "Frosty The Snow Man"...The silver and gold tinsel on it was so beautiful, and the slender sparkly garlands of cream and royal blue and mauve made it breathtaking, a wonderful sight to behold.
At the base of the tree, was the skirt, fluffy and dark cream colored with tiny multi-colored glittery stars sprinkled all over it. At the edge were the words printed in large cream and royal blue and mauve glitter letters, "Family, the best place to be! Christmas, 2002"
The tree's base was piled high with many presents, all shapes and sizes, of colorfully wrapped boxes. It was Christmas Eve in Sunnydale California, and Xander and Spike felt so blessed to be spending it with people who truly cared about them, and each other.

Xander was shocked. Totally, utterly speechless.
Spike smirked.
He had to hand it to Willow; Red had certainly accomplished the impossible!
Spike smiled, as he remembered another Xander 'gob smacked' moment, just recently too. It had been right after Thanksgiving.
The night they had shared had been so much fun, and after a nice hot shower, more hot lovemaking, when Xander and Spike had licked, sucked, kissed fondled every square inch of each others bodies... He and Xander had had a very, very serious talk. Spike was tired of games. He wanted answers.
It went way back... Back to their first meeting, back to the avoidy dance they had danced now for years. They talked about how the sex then, and the lovemaking now was oh, so way different, so much better. Lasting, fulfilling. Xander had confessed to Spike that the reason he could not marry Anya was because of Spike. He'd loved him too much to go through with it. And, Spike admitted to his temporary insanity of sex with Buffy as a way to make Xander jealous, and hopefully break up him and Anya.
And, after they had broken up, he'd slept with her in a desperate last ditch attempt to shake Xander up to get some kind of reaction, anything was better than the cold shoulder he'd given Spike since they'd brought back The Slayer from her 'Heavenly' grave. Spike finally fessed up to the reason he'd slammed Xander hard back onto that tree in Buffy's front yard that fateful night. It wasn't cause he was mad or anything.
It was cause he'd been so hurt. That they could leave him out of the loop, after all that they'd done that summer. He had fought side by side with Xander and the others, he'd kept every promise he'd made to Lady Buffy, and even after all of that, Xander had cut him so deeply, by cutting him out. Like he did not even matter. (Had he ever?)
He had gazed hard into Xander's whiskey brown eyes... as Xander had taunted him, dared him... Anya might have been standing right there, but both men only had eyes for each other. After Spike had stormed off on his motorcycle, Xander had dropped off Anya at their apartment. He'd left for the Bronze, despite her loud bitching, and went in search of HIS Vampire.
Several beers, and plates of wings and many pool games later, both had stumbled out to Spike’s bike. The Vampire had looked at Xander with raw lust. Xander had returned the heated gaze. Wordlessly, Spike stepped up, and swung one shapely black jean clad leg over, and mounted the motorcycle, gripping the bike with his powerful thighs.
Xander whimpered. He'd wished it had been him Spike was mounting. Spike just looked at him, and revved up the motor. He tilted his blonde head, waiting. Xander did not hesitate, as he too, mounted the motorcycle. As they drove through the streets of Sunnydale towards Spike's crypt, Xander could feel fissions of excitement, and lust, weave their way all around his body, pooling at his crotch, which was rubbing up against Spike. GAH!
When they had arrived, Spike and Xander put away the bike in Spikes secret hidey place. Spike then opened up his door, and motioned Xander to go on in. They had a couple of cold beers, and watched some television. Both were worried. Things had been going so well, they were afraid to break the magic. They had not traded one insult even! It was a bloody miracle. Spike mentioned to Xander that Willow must have done a spell or something. Xander agreed, as he moved closer to Spike on the couch.
Both men turned at the same time, and looked at each other. Spike to this day, was not sure who's lips touched whom first, but it did not matter, 'cause the outcome had been so rewarding. And this time, the kisses were not empty... This time, they had meaning. Spike had shuddered as Xander's mouth had touched his... Tasting him, licking him... Xander had taken Spike's head in between his large strong hands and slowly traced the outline of his full lips with his tongue. Then, he'd moaned, as he licked at the entrance to Spike's mouth, demanding entry, as he slowly pushed his way through. Once inside, Xander had traced every tooth, the tooth ridge and the roof of Spikes palate. Spike had almost lost it and taken Xander right then and there!
But, something inside told him, to take it slow... Let Xander map it out for him to follow. Spike had instead run his hands up and down Xander’s lean tanned muscular arms, and had moved even closer to him, deepening the kiss. That one kiss seemed to last for hours. It was as if both men were reluctant to end it. Spike had asked Xander to spend the night, Xander had accepted.
They had started dating, on Christmas Eve. After running into each other at the mall, Spike had invited Xander to share his Chinese dinner with him. They had ended up buying more sweet and sour chicken, and more spring rolls. Spike had had fun showing Xander the fine art of chopsticks. They had talked, and had both decided they did not wish to spend the Holiday alone, so Xander had invited Spike to his apartment. They'd then stopped by the Super Wal-Mart, and got some groceries, and last minute stuff. Spike had followed Xander home on his motorcycle.
They had stayed up late, baking, laughing, wrapping the gifts they had bought for the others, and well, just plain playing. They had laughed themselves shy of a coma while watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and then, they had done Xander’s childhood ritual of "It's a Wonderful Christmas Charlie Brown" movie. Complete with Snoopy Dance.
It had been around 11:00PM, when Xander had shyly asked Spike if he wanted to help him decorate the little artificial tree he'd just bought at Wal-Mart. Spike had been pleased. Together, they had strung lights, and hung pretty ornaments, and tossed strands of tinsel on the little 5ft. tree.
The colors were simple, red, and white and multi-colored twinkle lights. The tree looked like a candy cane. As Spike and Xander had finished wrapping their gifts for the others, they had sat Indian style, and just looked at the pretty lights in the dark.
Xander had felt surreal, as he'd watched the colorful blue, red, gold, green, pink and purple lights flicker off and on the walls, and off and on Spikes and his skin.
He'd then stretched, and pulled Spike into his warm embrace. As he sat there holding his hearts desire, he silently thanked anyone who was listening, for making his many water fountains, penny wishes come true.
The next morning, they had woken up, in each other’s arms. Both men so thankful for being right there. It had felt so right, and when Xander's big brown eyes had filled with happy tears as he'd said the words Spike would of given his newly gotten soul for..."I love you Spike"... Spike's own baby blues had gone misty, as he'd held Xander tenderly in his strong arms, and whispered, "I love you, Xander LaVelle Haris, so very much."
At that moment in time, both men decided one thing. They had their 'forever'... Right here, right now... in their arms... and they were NEVER letting go... Xander had made Spike giggle when he asked him to 'go steady' But, unknown to Xander, Spike was looking for more than a friendship ring, when he had later at the mall jewelry store had Xander try on a few rings and such, making sure to note not only his wedding band finger size... but his wrist and neck sizes as well. And had nonchalantly inquired on his preferences of gold, white gold or silver?
Heh... Little did Spike know? Xander was doing the same thing. Asking the same questions. It had been rather comical to the sales clerk, as she had watched both men figure out a way to get rid of each other, to obviously order, something? For each other... Xander had been quicker.
"Hey Spike, um, Hot Topic, um is havin' a killer sale, um, why don't cha go and um, look for something for Dawnie or Buffy and I'll catch up?"
Now, Spike had a feeling something was up, he just did not know what. He thought, that Xander wanted to get him a silly little 'boyfriend ' ring. He had smiled at his lover, kissed him gently on his soft full lips, and said..."Okay luv. Meet cha at the food court later?"
Xander had nodded, blushing.
Later, after they met back up again over Chinese food, and tall iced-teas... Spike had sent Xander on a wild goose chase for a last minute gift for Giles. The sales clerk had smirked widely when Spike had come sauntering back inside the small shop, but her grin widened as she realized the commission she would be making off of him and his boyfriend.
But then, there had been a nice time at Buffy's that Christmas... lots of presents, and good food, and happy tears... they had not hidden their newly found joy, and after the shock had worn off, more hugs, good wishes, 'about times', and happy tears. Everyone had applauded when Xander and Spike had exchanged 'promise rings'... Both Xander and Spike had been shocked, they had blushed, and then had been very happy, as they took turns in placing the ring on each others ring finger and making a promise to each other in front of their family and friends.
"I Xander, do promise you William, to love you and only you, to be faithful in all things, this I promise you."
And, then it was Spike's turn...
"I William, do so promise you Xander, to love you and only you, to be faithful in all things, this I promise you."
The room had fallen hush, as both men had hugged, then blue eyes held brown as they gazed at each other, and holding hands, had kissed sweetly.
In the following months, there had been, numerous movies, concerts in LA, miniature golf, night time picnics under the stars... bowling, more Bronze... pool... Sometimes they just hung out, at Spike's crypt, or Xander's apartment. Happy fun memories. But, despite all of that, something HAD been missing. It had taken Spike one full year to come full circle. Commitment, that was his answer. Not just a sweet promise.
After all that they had been through, and all that they had shared, Spike had come to a decision. Two weeks after Thanksgiving, he, William The Bloody, AKA Spike the Master Vampire, was going to ask Xander LaVelle Harris, for his hand... forever. Tonight, he would replace the promise ring with a ring that held more than just wishes.
Spike wanted to marry Xander, to make him his forever.
And, with a little help from his friends, especially one little powerful redheaded Witch... he was about to make Xander's and his dreams come true.
