Actually, I think it is very appropriate and a great tribute to write Doyle fic at such a time. Unfortunately, some authors are backing away. One who was including Doyle in an ongoing story announced after GQ's death that Doyle would not appear in any more of the story, with no in-text explanation for his sudden absence. Such an action, I think, is far more damaging than writing a story in his (character's) honor. And this is a good one. Very touching.
