One of the best post-Chosen stories ever. This resonates emotionally and the characterizations are excellent. I could imagine Buffy in Denny's calling Spike a jerk for his "Thanks..." comment. I read this on the DL site, and am glad it has found a home elsewhere to re-read and love.
