It was a little unfair to Angel.

Giles seem to have forgot a key p abo about him...even if everything with Angel was as bad as he said it was, it must be remembered that Joyce did say, "I know you care about my daughter, I just hope you care enough." And he did, and he . An. Angel should've been cut a little more slack then he was given. Angel continually sacrifices his own wants and needs...and indeed his humanity...I wonder how Giles would've taken that? Angel had the chance to be a mortal man, and kept her alive just a little bit longer by giving it up. A year and a half longer, as it turned out.

Also, I don't remember that much blood on the floor. Or any blood on the floor, really.

I have no sympathy for Riley or Spike.

What a devastating and clear-eyed overview of Buffy's relationships with men. Perhaps the awfulness of seasons sux and the Seventh Circle of Hell were merely the logical culmination of what Jerk Whedon gave us in earlier seasons. If such is the case, he has done his fans and his so-called feminist heroine a grave disservice.

One person once wrote the reason Caleb never worked as a villain is because his Southern, corn-fried misogny was so blatant and over-exaggerated. For such villainy to be plausible, the hatred must be subtle and hard to pin down but unmistakeably there when you read the signs. If we take this lesson to heart, then Jerk Whedon is the biggest misogynist on TV. It just took us this long to realize it. Thanks, Jedi, for another fine fic.

So what is it? Is any bad review a flame now? I explained why I didn't like this story. Why is Buffy the only one who can take care of Dawn? Because she's family and Dawn's guardian? Well then the Scoobies never should have gotten close to Joyce because it was their par job jobs to take care of them, not hers. You think Riley's a Nazi freak, but considering the fact he got out of the Initiative when he found out bad things happened, I really don't think that was the way it was meant to be taken, and quite frankly I don't think this story was designed to show him as a Nazi freak. You say you stopped liking Buffy when Faith came into the picture, well it's not that hard yto like Faith. She is the one who thinks slaying's a party. Buffy treated it like a duty which isn't fun. And you say Buffy constantly got her friends into life or death situation, Buffy's life is a life or death situation. And lets not forget when the Scoobies kicked Buffy out 's 's the first thing Faith did? She put them in a life or death situation, based solely on information provided by one of the Big Bad's near mindless minions. And if Buffy was a selfish, petty individiual she would have stayed in LA, or moved away from Sunnydale to go to college, or commited suicide to get back to heaven. She constantly put her life on the line for people, and people are upset she didn't spend more time hugging them and saying she loved them. Well some people talk, and some people do.

Screw the flamer. I really liked this story, I just have a couple of gripes, one being Giles use of the word 'fisticuffs' and buffy saying 'mean ol' poop'. Lol they just wouldn't say that, at least I hope not lol...also, the part about Buffy having to bring Spike a money or a carton of cigarettes was kind of funny, I really don't think he would 'demand' that to love her, he's been obsessed with her right from the s tart, a pack of smokes wouldn't make him stop...although if he has a soul now, it might be different.

Anyhow, I run a website called 'seeing red', the address is

    http://www.geocities.com/valor_faith/disclaimer0.html

and I would be ONLY TOO THRILLED If you would do me the honour of allowing me to archivur sur story. It's not exactly centered around the episode, it's more broad, but it's definitely connected to it, and it's important for all those relationships to be explored. (frankly I stopped liking Buffy when Faith came into the picture) While I think that some of the story's points are moot and others went unexplored, I agree with the general tone. I think Buffy is a very selfish, petty individual and has been so for a long time. She's always gotten her friends into stupid life-or-death situations and then the writers made it all better because in the end she was infallible. Her relationships were also a joke, I thought Riley was a nazi freak, dating Angel was just wrong after he came back from the dead, and etc...I can totally see now how Joyce might have kept her mouth shut about Angel to keep Buffy from running away.

Anyhow, please think about it, it would make a beautiful addition to the meager, meager amount of fic I have on the site. And if you know of any interested essays or 'seeing red' fic (of any kind, I accept anything, erotic, kinky, revenge, therapy, anything) please let me know. Congratulations on a story that was about due miles and miles back.

I agree with Jason. Your Dawn is an idiot and Giles is absolutely disgusting. But in no way is Buffy telling Dawn it's ok to be abused.

Your Dawn is an idiot. Buffy attacked Angel in Angel. In Graduation Day they said the vamp had to drain a Slayer. In BtVS draining implies draining dry. And would you mind telling me how Dawn knew about Buffy and Angel fighting over Faith or why Buffy would tell her sister about sparring with Riley. In season 5 the implication was Dawn was unwelcome around training session and Joyce had a no slaying around your sister rule. Yes there was badness she'd be aware of with Spuffy but she saw the end result. Your Scoobies disgust me doing not but but watch while Buffy was busy. You're telling me Anya, even without vengeance demon powers wouldn't have put some curse on him. You want to know why Spike's problems were the ones Buffy worked on? Because they were either endangering people or easy to solve, in the limited time she had left to work with. Guess what, leaders don't do everything themselves. They delegate responsibilites and hop their underlings are competant enough to take care of themselves
